lighting help

ok here is what i got. I just started growing for the first time. i have 1 plant(i know i should have at least 4). this is just to get experience for when i make my grow room and that it was the only seed i found in the dankest grass i ever had. Right now that 1 plant has germinated then was put in soil, wattered, and put in the back cornor of my closet. only issue is light.

the walls are painted white and i have one 15 watt florcent (portable) (produces 750 lumens)

will this be enough for one plant? the area is small but just big enough for a plant to grow.

so should i keep the 15 watt light? will it work? i want it to grow as fast as it can in the shortest time.

MONEY IS A ISSUE! i have like 10 bucks to spend on lighting.

any tips will help. thx

yea man your going to need more lighting... i have 3 cfl's puitting uot 1000 lumans a piece per plant.... cfl's are cheap and really really easy to install(plug-in) ten bucks can get you a bulb ya need at least like 25 bucks to get a few cfl's if your tight on cash

ten bucks? lay off the weed and get a job. get your money up and then buy a setup. and by then you might be over 18.

i said 10 bucks as a sarcastic remark, i have a job, i have money (i just started im not going to blow money on something that i have no experience of.)

and i might be over 18? first of all im 19 and how did you come up with the conclusion that i wasnt? all i did was ask a question! its people like you that piss me off. i ask a simple question and you condesend me. i came here for advise not judgments.

settle down dude. just fucking with ya. but ten bucks, come on son. it isnt just lights you will need. you need at least a hundred to get anything. and 18, 19, i was pretty close.

also, i said lighting of 10 bucks do you know how much a ph meeter and chemicals cost.
I plan to have a whole room setup soon as my roommate leaves. (do you know how much that cost?)

Yeah! You can purchase some fluorescents and it will work. I've done some great grow with only fluoreoscents Don't let anyone on here bum you out.
Most people here are really nice and polite but some people are just blatantly rude.
Try and ignore them.:?

a whole room setup and you want to set it up with ten dollar lights? i dont get it. pH meter but ten dollars for lighting? i have to be missing something. your plants need light more than anything and cfls are the only light close to that cheap, but only for a small grow. not a rooms worth. for that you will need a couple grand.

thats a good idea about planting outdoors. its going to have to be next fall till my setup(IE roommate). Just i already started this (spare of the moment thing, its one of those high stories)

got high, talked about how dry it was around here and how hard it is to get bud this time of year. so we all(4 of us) started trying to grow right after the conversation.

we are all noobs but it was fun and started to take it more serious after that shit suprisingly sprouted.

Or do what this guy said. I've planted plenty outdoors. Doesn't cost much at all. Some compost, bonemeal etc:peace:

Even get a used fluorescent and put in new grow light bulbs. Thats not much. Good luck all the same.:peace:

I'm gonna jump in here for a minute. Hot box, a lot of us started just like you did and added as we went. We also get a lot of folks that stop in our forum, kinda like you did, and say they only have a couple of bucks. Not all of them Misrepresent the facts like you did, but pretty much the same. Its usually some 15 year old trying to hide a plant from his parents. We have a responsibility to protect the site, and the rules of the site say you have to be over 18. In addition to this, we all understand that someone's parent could lose thier house, so we discourage that type of behaviour. Thats why Magus asked the questions?
Your response was a little over the top, if that pissed you off like that, you need grow up. I bet if someone you didn't know walked in to your apartment you might ask the same kind of questions, who are you, etc.
Now that the plant sprouted, we all want you to do well with it. That will require more than $10.00. I can tell you how to do it for $116.95. Maybe all of you could put your plants, plans and etc. together and actually get some yeild?? VV:blsmoke:

understandable. ya i went ahead and got a few 45 watt compact florcent. and planted 2 more plants. thantks for the help.

also how do i do the light cycles? i have them on 24/7 for now. so when do i put them on a on off cycle?

What up hotbox. I feel your pain bro. I just started growing becuase I am broke and can't afford to keep buying an ounce of bud every other week. An ounce in Cali is about 450 bucks. So I started my ghetto grow. I started with one Flouro grow light I got from Wal-Mart for $10. It helped me get to about 3-4 weeks of good Veg. It bought me some time till I upgraded to 2 flouro grow lights and 3 Cfls I got from Home Depot. For the 3 Cfls I got It cost me 5 bucks for the pack. You will need some other stuff you can get as you go. (Ph tester, a fan, some c02, etc.)Here are some pics of my ghetto grow box. the first 2 are how I started the last 2 are what I have now. That is beautifull. man that is expensive for 1 ounce tho, here its 100-150. but its so dry around here. that setup you have is verry close to what i have. right now everything looks good. got my lights and everything now its all about technuique.

CFL will cost you 8 bucks alone.

try this. go to walmart, get two clamp lights and a pack of 26 watt CFLs. put those suckers on like one or two plants for 3 or 4 weeks. then go get 4 more clamp lights and another pack of bulbs. itll cost you like 40 bucks in all but only 20 or so on the first trip.

i got it. went with two 42 watt CFLs cost me 6 bucks. can you say cheep and if my calculation is correct that is that almost 3000 lumens per square foot, that will work.
