ok so i just moved into my house and im not able to setup a tent or room due to we are renting from our in-laws. it being their house nothings is really off limits to them. so my plan is to build a box that looks like a work table in the garage. they already know i build alot of stuff and we talked about me building a my work table. im also going to put up a peg board and what not for the functions and looks, my question what would be the best light setup for a box 3x2x8... as of now i have a 600 watt hps cooltube that dim. i was thinking led,t5 or 2 low watt hps in 2 cooltube

also as of now we are going to add insulation to the attic to help keep the temps down.

That box has to be super stealthy. Because you in-laws will probably have a close look at anything you build inside the garage?

I would use a quality LED light since it produces the least amount of heat. And so you can get away with very little airflow. So your box will be quiet.

yep. as for noise i was thinking of placing the fan in the attic right above and running the ducting up inside the wall. then placing a ped board over the cut and patch...im not sure if the fan will make any noise yet have to pick it up from storage....

i might have to diy led since i dont really have a lot of funds

I wouldn't want my canopy closer than 10" from my cooltube, with the pot height about 1' and the cooltube about 6"? Looks like about a 8" tall plant...

I grew a nice little 40g closet plant with only 4 weeks veg using just 8x 23w CFLs, that's a super-cheap option, or you could think about 4' T5HOs. I think LED would be fine for veg but most people seem to say the cheapies don't flower well, so you would need DIY/big buck IMO

Get some trellis netting or hit the thrift stores for shelves with square holes for SCROG, I stole the idea of an advertiser here (SCROGGO) and made a pot-mounted SCROG screen with one ;)

You need to train low and wide as possible with that space shape, but no doubt you can crank out plenty of meds from there.

So if I ran a hps in my size box would that be too much
You can run a 600W HPS in your size box.

But it will need proper ventilation because the 600W HPS throws a lot of heat.

The kind of airflow needed will cause wind noise. And I cannot imagine your parents in law NOT noticing this. Unless they don't ever access the garage...

Yeah space is a problem for me. I would love to do a 4x4 tent and call it the day. If I had room in the attic I would used that and installed an ac. Also I plan on running autos so that's a good and bad thing. I can get a short auto but it won't have much time for training.

It's a 600 electronic light so I can turn it down. To 50%. Would I still have a heat issue
