Lighting before harvest?

Hey guys, last grow I shut the lights off for a full 24 hrs before harvest because some people on here said it helped out with size or weight . . . or something like that ha.

I was wondering if that was enough time or should I throw it into a 36 hr dark period?

I have tryed this method many times with different strains and I have found no postive results in any way.
If you want to try it for yourself the amount of time is 36hrs of dark then harvest. Make sure she goes into the dark with moist soil.

I have tried it many dif ways.
I have found the bud has a slightly smoother taste. If given 24 hrs of dark.
I also prefer to leave them dry. I dont water 3 to 4 days before harvest. Imo

Letting a plant dry out is not a good idea (fact) the whole plant system is opertated by useing the moisture in the plant to flow auxins and nutreints and such to the leafsw and buds, etc. They use moisture inside the plant like a highway. Close off the moisture (dry) and the highway shuts down, auxins and nutes can not travel up to buds, etc.

The concept: Is that the plant will protect it self by produceing more trichs/resin. Darkness is supposed to do this.

I have not seen any difference.

I do not beleive this concept.
At night the plant goes to sleep, most of the nutes, etc drop down into the roots and that is why we harvest before lights on. So how is a plant suppose to do any type of growing in the dark if its basicly shut down.
I have read people swearing to this method many times, but it's just not logical to me.
One must try this method thereselfs and make there own conclusions.
If any do keep us posted. :joint:

36hrs is the recommended time. Studys have tryed 24 ,36 and 48 and they all fall back to the 36 hrs

I let mine go 24 hrs with out water maybe 48. But the thing is noticew the last few weeks they really start to pack on weight. So I like to keep them moist and such. But I try not to water 24hrs before harvest. And if I do it's okay it just means alonger (one day two maybe) drying. I do harvest just before lights on so most of the water, etc. is in the roots.

So the if you let them go dry before harvest you are slowing down the last few moments of there lives. If you allow some water they will continue to pack on wieght till the harvest. And drying after they are cut down is just a few days or so.
