still waitin for mine to show up should be here soon. You know i posted a question somewhere cause i need options to try and keep an exhaust fan cheap and people act like im a criminal or somthing. telling me shit like if you dont have the money you shouldnt grow. Is it a crime to want to DIY something and try and keep it cheap because you just dropped over 1k and want your pocket book to be able to breath for a few days....Its not like i couldnt go buy a 200 dollar inline fan but why? =( some people these days make me sad

That's some serious high-handed bullshit. Who the fuck is anyone to say something like that to you? Shine it on, man...that person has serious issues.

Good luck, I expect you'll do well.

thanks man hope so i've spent enough and done enough research to know i've got some good stuff not the best equipment out there but it should be sufficient to get the job done if i dont mess it up myself so... heres to not screwin up my ladies =)

I've heard Blackstars tend to send the ladies into flowering early, so that might be something to consider as you go forward.

Regarding a cheap fan. I've got a notion of using a bathroom fan and configuring hepafiter fabric, impregnated with charcoal, as a filter.

There's one at Lowe's for $30. I don't know how small your space is, but my idea might work in a small space. My only concern is how quiet it is.

hey man check this out this is what i ended up going with http://www.amazon.com/Rule-240-Marine-Blower-4-Inch/dp/B000O8D0IC/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&s=sporting-goods&qid=1289423980&sr=8-4

and this to convert ac to dc
http://www.amazon.com/Wagan-Amp-12V-Power-Adapter/dp/B000P7O5DG/ref=sr_1_cc_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1289424047&sr=1-1-catcorr

should be fairly quiet because its inline and im going to have a filter on it. Im going to get some activated carbon from the pet store its only ten bucks sew it up in some scotch brite towels the ones with the holes in em. and there you have it home made smell control plus that fan moves a pretty good amount of cfm 250 or so

Im not planning on doing too much veg with em anyways ive got a sog ebb and flow table and im probably just going to throw my clones straight into flower or if anything very little veg so shouldnt be too much of an issue i hope

That looks real interesting, but it doesn't say how much noise it makes. That fan from Lowe's is way too loud. About 10x noisier than this quality fan rated @<.3 sones

How big is your grow environment?

its five feet tall by 43"x24" ill let you know how quiet it is its supposed to be here tomorrow and im planning on havin it hooked up too, so ill let you know late tomorrow afternoon or earlier on in the night how it does i would imagine it should be fairly quiet.

hahaha sweet nirvana just sent a little gift that showed up in my mail box today, some black jack, blackberry kush, wonderwoman, and some mystery seeds oh boy i love a mystery

Yo not for nothing but I live local to Victor, and saw that add on ebay, I am about to visit him in person and he said he has LED lights there to setup...hrmm, He has a hydroponics shop in Suffern that he is just starting, he doesn't just sell LED he sells HID as well as nutes and other such stuff. I'll probably see him this weekend, but he is a real person in a real place, I can confirm that.

When you see Victor, tell him to stop storing credit card info...it turns off potential customers. At least provide an option.

Oh and when you see him can you ask him why he sent me a brand new 2011 6 band 240w panel with a burnt led in it....

edit* scratch that about the burnt led its a spectrum you cant see with the human eye were good just talked to victor he picked up and its 630 over there seemed nice said he gets that question a lot and explained it pretty in depth but with my adhd i just cut him off and said thank you so much peace lol

You purchased a light from a retailer that has already established that they don't mind bending the truth (the spoof award website). When you have an LED not working, the retailer who would directly benefit by lying tells you "The spectrum of that LED can't be seen with the naked eye". And you immediately were satisfied with that answer?

You are much more trusting in mankind than I am. I should strive to be more like you.

Kaptain K- If you talk to him again, would you ask him if it's ok to hang these vertically...on the long axis? I can't imagine why not, but what the hell do I know.

If you read the WHOLE description of the light it states that it will draw as little as 120watts depending on line voltage purity.

my father is an electrician, i had to ask him about this, and he laughed and yelled bs at the top of his lungs. he said something just doesn't decide to draw less power because the voltage is purer, it draws less power because it is designed to by adding some sort of limiter. he also said 'why would you want less actual output going to your plants' and that makes sense. i want 240w, not 160 or 120w hitting my plants.

Yeah, that was mentioned earlier...troubling for sure. Something else to ask Victor about.

i talked to my friend who is also an electrician the reason it only pulls 120w or whatever is because there is a capacitors and stuff inside there it boosts the actual wattage to the leds.... someone sounds like they dont know too much bout electricity. Its like an amp for a car stereo you dont pay attention when it say 2500w amp because thats not the actual number the acutual number is WRMS which stands for watts RMS thats the actual amount of wattage your speakers are using from the amp. Same difference with the LED. As for the led being out i believe him because you CANT SEE UV SPECTRUM..... I forgot it had uv in it. That being said you can talk all the shit you want about this company their stuff came quickly and is working great for me already i just have some N deficiencies to get rid of. So sorry if you think im so trusting maybe it just so happens i was a little too medicated at the time to make sense of it when my friend told me my led was out so i called the guy and realized oh shit im a dumbass. I know how light works do you? He even told me specifically which LED was out and where on the board without me even telling him where it was. Specifically pointed out a specific LED and said that one will look like its not working because its UV. Dont believe it if you dont want to.

capacitors are used in an amp to ensure a constant drive and clean the input power. power in = power out, i repair amplifiers and guitars at GC, and now i kno your not talking truth. if it onyl takes 120w, at led about 30% efficiency that means you're only emitting about 40w of light, not 80w. efficiency of the diode doesn't magically increase, just like any other part of a electronic circuit won't see an efficieny increas

and its easy to see if there is UV, hold up any recepit paper with hiliter print ont he back. if any of the diodes are uv or based from UV like blue diodes are, the hiliter print glows.

no, you're wrong... :dunce: a capacitor stores power. it takes the power from the outlet, and stores it till it's full, then releases that electricity at a certain rate. thus, it can put out 240w while drawing less. you're right about power in = power out, you're just not taking into account that the capacitor can store that power. a "constant drive" and "clean input power" is just a nice side effect. so stop hating on lighthouse already, i just got one of these and i don't need bullshitters raising doubts about my light. why do you even care, if you obviously don't grow with or plan on growing with this light?
