Light schedule for Autos

I've never grown auto-flowering plants... but was curious... are you able to leave the lights on 24hrs when growing autos? Is there a benefit to doing that or do the plants still flower better at 12/12?

The plants are going to flower when their genetics tell them to...because the ruderalis in them is a strain which is used to short summers with long light, generally most people agree that the light only helps...but you always want a bit of a dark period to help with photosynthesis in the plants...in my opinion 24 hours straight sunlight wouldn't help the plant reach its full potential and 12/12 would cut short its veg cycle. Remember, you don't need 12/12 to make them flower...I have always kept my autos at 18/6 for most of their life cycle and then tapered the light to eventually 12/12 during flowering...it's a short flowering period that you have and I have burnt the top buds because I kept the lights on too long...but only at the very end of the flowering period...I think it's dependent on strain as well...you get some autos with more ruderalis in them that react better to more light...for me every auto is a bit different, just like every photo is...just the autos don't bother me so much regarding the lighting schedule!
Try to grow an auto or two and you'll see, they're not so different from photos when it comes to growing!

he is mostly right ...........but with the last few years and all the breeders using different genetics to get the starter auto it really depends on the breeder and the strain

i been running test
i did a 20/4 for my last run the whole way i was happy with the results
i am currently doing a 24/0 run and one of them is well i know atleast 2 oz on there now and less then half way tho the flowering cycle for that strain 10 weeks instead of 8 or 9.........the other one looks more like t5 flowering (but having a ph issuse)

this is how it works ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,so for me the longer the light the thicker the buds ............the off time makes them all resien up

check the strain details and other ppls runs to tweak yours to get what u want from it

by resien do you mean "resin?" I think so, but want to be sure...If so, the stickier the better to make hash and such! But, to be honets, I haven't tried 24/0 so you'd be the master regarding that...probably also depends on the type of lighting you use! It's been a bit since I saw your comments in a thread, justugh, but they are always appreciated...take a look at my new grow under the forum autos "royal diesel automatic" and let me know what you think!

yah u got it sorry spelling is not one of my skills and i lost the complusion to spend hours correcting myself

yah the dark makes it stickier .........it is why alot of the breeders tell u to do 48 of darkness before u cut it

they even debate about removeing the fan leaves on the main stalk to all more light to hit the flowers sugar leaves (this does seem to effect the denceness and does not look like it effects the yeild in the end

lighting i am 2 600w hids with a combo of mh and hps .......since i have only 2 flowering and 2 starting in veggie(t5 light for anouther week and half) i am running 2 hps right now )

u want the master of Autos.............tekdc911.............he taught me alot when i first came on here ( i am still a novice but the more i help ppl the more i learn quicker)

the next strain i am planing on is ultra lemon haze from auto seed (they say best results at a 16/8 timing)

hi, im a newbie here , wouldt 24/0 lights be a burden on the electricity bill? is it really that worth it , compared to non auto flowering?

not as bad as you think i mean most desktops run about 300-500 w mines 800w but is a gaming system
if you do a side by side photo - auto planted at the same time the auto will out veg the photo
so in my opinion the speed is the advantage even if its at 24/0

hnx , for the quick reply , without derailing the thread , would it be a problem if the first 4 days only got 4-5 hours of light due to euqipment malfunction?
