Light not penetrating, Trim lower branches ?

Hey everyone, My friend is currently growing 3 Cannalope haze plants, They are currently 18 days into flower a trichomes are forming all over the plant. I fear the lower branches will produce little buds and take away potential growth from main/side colas. The plants are apprx 4 feet tall and have about 15 nodes from bottom to top of the plant, leaf stems are purple and the stem where trichs are forming are purple. will post pics upon request, although its a bitch. lol.

He has the following equipment:
Bult in ventillation
rotating fan
176W of CFL bulbs.
120W Led rectangular unit.

total of 15,600 lumens in a 5.4 sq foot space, not all of the ground space is coverd by plants, some side bulbs.

My question is, if i trim off 3 sets of branches from each node, could it help the top of the plant produce a better yeild?

Why would you be trimming up your friends plant? Just give him your opinion and let him trim up what he wants to trim. Last thing you want is your friend being disappointed by his yield and blaming you for it, lol.

Trimming off some of the lower branches or "lolly popping" can help get your main cola a little bigger. If your just worried that the lower branches aren't getting enough light, having him throw some CFL in the grow to get some light on the lower stuff.

I agree with the above poster but considering the light your friend is using, he would be well served to lollipop. Those lower branches aren't going to produce much anyway and it's a pain in the ass to trim that popcorn bud.
