Hello all,

I mix up some soil (pro-mix, perlite, compost, ewc and misc organic meals and nutrients) I have had it enclosed in plastic trash cans for the last week. I opened em up and there is a light molding on the surface.
is this ok? I would think so, with organic material, stale air and moisture, but want to double check.
Can I just stir up this mold into the rest of the soil?

thanks

Totally normal. Turn it under, your good to go. If you start getting any ammonia or stale pond smells let it air out.

Yeah from what I understand that is mycorrhizal fungi. That's a good thing. And if you take that Mold dirt you can inoculate your roots, and a fungal tea!

It's good.. I did a super soil mix.. And it's doing the same, however I spread the pile out and partially covered it. So either way it's gonna look like that.

i would think it is best to stir/airate the composting soil every Two Days after letting it sit for Four days before beginning the flip every other day. It's called hot composting, and in 18 days you will have beautiful black mould!
