I was just wondering what time most Cali growers or az run there lights during the summer heat?I was thinking from 6pm to 6am, iv always ran my lights during the day because I was afraid of light leaks but I have worked on my room lately sealed everything and put up a lot of panda film I'm no longer worried about it,and I have added more lights so I need to keep the room cooler , I can't afford a bigger AC right now. So I thought I would try this. I'm in so cal by the way. I'm pulling out with an 8 in and 6 in exhaust fans, I also wondered since it's so hot during the day but my plants will be in dark I must run AC 24/7?, might be a dumb question ,but I do want my temps cooler at night then day right?and dnt they release humidity at night ,and can't have fans/AC on? Damn outdoors so much simpler lol

June/July/Aug/sept. there is high risk of loosing power. a 5 hour black out can do a lot of damage. I(we) used that time(months) for tear down and cleaning and improvement's. grow a little something outside just for fun.

the new laws by SDG&E with tier rates, I'm in super tier now just with LEDS.

by 2018, it will be impossible to run, 1000 HPS, as a residential customer. you will need to get a commercial space, or denial of service. I already seen it happen they send you demand letter telling you to stop, or face disconnection.

even with LED's I'm a super tier user, and it feels like the old days running HPS the bills are just as bad, if not worse. I think part of the reason for the ban on cultivation in residential areas is about power.

I have 13 solar panels saves me about $79.00 a month. I need like 30. about I'm only allow to add 7 more . I still pay over $400.00 a month. without A/C add another $100 for that 24/7

I'm guessing by 2019 my home project will be limited to 32SF or 50SF.

what angers me the most is they base these number including private generation. 7/10 homes in my area have some kind of solar. and they are counting that, even though you make on your own private property. so even in a fantasy scenario you were able to have a 0 charge on your bill, you would still pay the fines and penalties as if you were running only on grid, that's like $120 bucks a month for them doing nothing but having your address and a meter on your property.

Yeah a lot of people run them at night but if you have no way of cooling the room its difficult to get that 10-15 degree temp variation essential for optimal growth.. I run mine from 5 am to 4 pm in flower now, have light leaks for days because the grow is a room in my living room.. lol.

I run from 8pm to 8am

I was before stressed about light linkage... After an advise of an experienced grower on the forum I didnt pay much attention to it later on..

I have small light leaks here and there, nothing significant or brighter than the moon, now I even open and close the door while its day time and make snap shoots with flash in the room during dark period
.. Zero difference... STill growing..

7pm to 7am year round. SE US here, so temp and humidity are constantly through the roof during June-September.

North of Cali but it still gets too hot in Oregon some days. I run my lights at night like you are thinking and fans.

I always do 10pm-10am made it easier to manipulate environment and always shuts off right before those temp spikes in the summer. Reading the post about being fined for using too much power is so sad...im in an area still thank god, where you could plug 10k into a house no one will bat an eye lol

Man that sucks. Come down under. Power companies couldn't give two shits how much power you use :)
