light/darkness

think about this question very hard, when has anyone ever produced darkness? sure there is light but it always has a source. i believe darkness to be the only constant thing (if you can call it a thing at all) in the universe.

thoughts/ideas?

one of my favourite quotes...

“Light thinks it travels faster than anything but it is wrong. No matter how fast light travels, it finds the darkness has always got there first, and is waiting for it.”

- Terry Pratchett.

You don't create darkness. You eleminate light. Just like you don't create cold, you merely remove heat from one location and move it to another. All sources of heat are already created. It may be stored in different fuels but the potential is already there and only needs to be released.

Coldness is the absence of heat.
Darkness is the absence of light.

It is easier for one to destroy the light inside themselves, than to defeat the darkness all around them.

have you nothing to do but be an online cunt? i have noticed in the short time that i have been here on RIU that you are nothing but an asshole that hardly ever even contributes anything remotely close to intellegent. so why dont you go back to the third grade and re-live the obvious rape that you underwent that fucked you up for all eternity. i have no problem with you from here on out. i said what i had to say in response to your comments this should be the end of it. so with that said, lets start to spark and take these hits to the head. :bigjoint:

Albert Einstein knows his shit.

That is the way I have always viewed this subject.

Isnt everything dark before light hits? If it hasnt been explored...then its just absence of being for the moment. Once it is discovered, and goes dark, it is just the absence of light.

perhaps light is just something that we percieve to be there? also, the other day i was part in a discussion where it was said that light destroys darkness when it is present, but that darkness so quickly replenishes itself that we percieve it as always being there. then again the same can be true the other way around as well.

I'm not gonna give you any kind of infraction or formal warning, cause you're new, and he pretty well deserved it here ;) , but we dont tolerate personal attacks like this.... there are much more polite ways to be an asshole ;-)...

other than that, welcome to RIU..... and to the people that think the thread is asinine, I must remind you that damn near every major scientific breakthrough has been something that was "impossible" or otherwise known to be not true.... thinking outside the box is a good thing:eyesmoke:

light is energy.... it can be seen and measured, so it has to be there, not a matter of perception here.... but perhaps we will discover an energy source that can absorb light energy, thus eliminating light.... think of a "dark flashlight" :)... then we would realize that light and darkness are BOTH energies, just that light is dominant/stronger.....

I dunno, I'm stoned and i understand the intention of this thread.... us stoners (most of us it seems) seem to enjoy talking out of our asses about deep/scientific topics when stoned... sure some of them are dumb sometimes, but you have to keep in mind that the "double helix model" of DNA, (what created the science of genetics) was something that was thought up under the influence of LSD.... moral of the story being that not all drug induced thoughts are retarded:shock:
