I know generally speaking mh is veg and most flower hps, some people veg and flower hps only, others are led and flourescent growers, opinions and ideas. What color spectrums do people prefer? What are all the numbers? Calvin's or kalvins lol I know lumens are brightness intensity. But can people teachme something?

I can only tell you about my own experience. Just like all the other jerks on this site. I would suggest fluorescents or MH for veg, and HIDs for flower. But, It's up to you which direction you want to go. Best hint I could give you, is to get a spread of 50 watts per square foot of canopy. HID, LED, or whatever, it really boils down to how decent your genetics are and how well you can respond to the specific strains feeding habits. The thing you want to focus on if this is your first or second run is your temps and ventilation. Super important when growing indoors = having an exhaust, and passive intake. Plus a few circulation fans (A way to control the environment). Once you get your temps dialed in, then you can worry about how they like to be fed etc.

Kelvin is color of the light. 4000 range for bloom, 6000 range for grow. The color of the light is meant to match nature, as the summer months (grow) need a brighter spectrum, where as when you enter fall(bloom) they want red for bigger bud size. The reds in the lights (4200k/ HPS) mimic the natural light color in the fall, which will notify the time is here to finish the life cycle. More questions? Keep them coming.
