Libertarian National Convention on CSPAN

For anyone interested..... the 2008 Libertarian National Convention is being broadcast live on CSPAN (it says live on the screen.. may be a re-broadcast)

The Libertarian Party supports the legalization of Marijauna.... in fact Steve Cubby... one of the Libertarian Party Presidential candidates was himself arrested for growing legal medical marijuana. He was also a big player in getting Prop 215 in CA passed. I think Steve has a very strong chance at being the Libertarian Party candidate.

I'm not pimping any one candidate or party... I'm just letting you know it's on CSPAN now if you want to take a look at some of the candidates and hear their position on the issues.

If you're like me and don't want to vote for either of the scoundrels running on one of the big 2 tickets... then you may want to consider tuning into CSPAN and taking a look.

Yeah i watched a bit of it today. I like the idea of a libertarian president but its not likely to happen. libertarions and independent candidates don't get covered by mainstream media or if they do its a rare event. so their message doesn't really get out to the public. republicans and democrats take up all the media spotlights with the exception of Ron Paul who hasn't had that much media coverage in my opinion:) Peace

Agreed.... not likely we will see a Libertarian or any other Independent candidate in office this year.... or even 4 years from now. We Americans are quick to call for change.... but we keep on voting for the same old scoundrels from the big 2 political machine. They have the money to get their message out.... while the grass roots independents struggle to get their message out.

Regardless how slow the process of knocking down the big 2 is.... I'm in it for the long haul. I'm a registered Independent... and I plan on staying that way. I have no idea who's going to be on the final Presidential ballot but I know this... I WON'T be checking a box for a Dem or Rep!

BTW... they are on the 3rd round of voting and Steve Cubby is OUT.... surprisingly Dr. Mary Ruwart is doing quite well in the vote... YEAH!!!! Unfortunately Bob Barr is tied with Ruwart. I'm shocked about this as he claims to be a Libertarian... but he's really a lieing stinking Republican!

It will be interesting to watch Barr try to square his "keep marijuana illegal" stance he had as a Republican congressman with the views of the Libertarian Party.

Well congratulations Libertarian Party.... you've allowed the Republican Party to hi-jack you! I can't believe people who claim to be Libertarians voted a CLEAR Republican to be their candidate!

Bob Barr gives meaningless lip service to the Libertarian Party values and nothing more. He doesn't support the core values of the Libertarian Party.... nope... he is very vague in what he supports!

Libertarians support Abolishing the National Tax
Bob Barr says Government spending is out of control and supports "tax reform"

Libertarians support COMPLETELY ABOLISHING the War on Drugs
Bob Barr says ...... "There is no legitimate use whatsoever for marijuana. This is not medicine. This is bogus witchcraft. It has no place in medicine, no place in pain relief..."
Bob Barr does NOT support ending the war on drugs... which is a CORE value of the Libertarian Party!

Libertarians want to abolish the Patriot Act and restore our 4th Amendment Rights
Bob Barr VOTED to APPROVE the Patriot Act!

Libertarians support the rights of gays to marry
Bob Barr WROTE the Defense of Marriage Act... which is clearly against gay rights to marry.

The list goes on and on.... Bob Barr is about as Republican as they come.... the Libertarian delegates should be ASHAMED of themselves!

I applaud Christine Smith standing up in front of the delegates and telling them she is ashamed of them for voting for a candidate who is NOT a Libertarian.... but a Republican!

So, now you see why I'm superpissed, yeah? Almost mad enough to eat a folded Frisbee! It all started several years ago when my party contacted me asking me to vote a certain way on a proposition that they CLEARLY failed to understand. Man.. they don't like getting letters from me, I tell you what!

They were detained at the door. Only whitey can be a Libertarian, right?

This is what I mean about the definition of who is a racist (or class-war demagogue). Could it be the person who consistently introduces it as a divisive wedge issue?

Word...I even said the same thing when I found out that this ass was running on the Libertarian ticket and that Libertarians were throwing in with him. Patriot Act, marijuana, gay marriage...Tsk tsk.

Brilliant analysis! It's amazing how you encapsulated everything the party stands for with such a searing indictment. You truly are a Super-Genius.
Why thank you, I watched a few minutes on C-span, nary an African american or Mexican to be seen. Quite simple analysis really.

Why would a Mexican be at a U.S. party function? A Mexican is a citizen of Mexico. As a tolerant and compassionate Modern Liberal, surely you are aware that referring to a Latino or Hispanic-American as a 'Mexican' is an insult. That's their word. A racially charged label when used by anyone else.

There isn't a conspiracy to keep anyone out of the party..... there isn't a policy of denying people from joining the party based on their race... in fact I'm sure the party would love to have a few million more members of any race that believe in the party objectives.

What would you suggest??? Should they go out and club people over the head and force them to join the party?

Honestly MM ... I don't even know why you bothered to post in this thread.... don't you have a Socialist agenda to be pushing elsewhere?
