Another fib from Gore’s film is, “a new study shows that for the first time they’re finding polar bears that have actually drowned, swimming long distances of up to 60 miles to find the [Arctic] ice.”

His lines are accompanied by cheesy animation of what appears to be a narcoleptic polar bear struggling to climb aboard a lonely sliver of sea ice. The weight of the bear snaps the thin ice chip like a Rye-Crisp. The polar bear is doomed to drown.
This too, is another fascinating work of fiction.
It has always been assumed that Gore was referring to the 2004 account of the four polar bear carcasses that were found floating in the Beaufort Sea off the coast of Alaska. The dead animals were spotted by researchers from the U.S. Minerals Management Service (USMMS), who, for the past 25 years, have regularly surveyed the polar bear population of that region. Because the animals are instinctively hearty swimmers, the USMMS says that, prior to 2004, drowned polar bears had never been documented in their surveys. However, in late September of that year, a USMMS helicopter crew witnessed four carcasses, presumed to have somehow succumbed in the sea. Word immediately got out to activists, who quickly blamed it all on anthropogenic global warming.

Truth is, according to the National Weather Service in Fairbanks, Alaska, at the time of the observation, a normal amount of sea ice was covering the Beaufort.[1] Therefore, it was unlikely that the drowned bears ran out of ice to rest upon. So, what happened? I personally suspected a fierce storm and dug into records of the National Weather Service. Sure enough, according to a September Weather Service summary, there was a potent, three-day storm that whipped up some pretty wild waves:
“The most significant event of the month was the combination of a low pressure area that moved from Bristol Bay east over the Gulf of Alaska on the 19th and 20th, and into the Canadian Great Lakes on the 21st, and a western Aleutian low that moved over the central Bering Sea on the 19th and 20th, and into southwest Alaska on the 21st. These developments brought vigorous westerlies and rough seas to the Aleutians and the Gulf of Alaska.”[2]
The polar bears were not killed by a lack of sea-ice rest stops; most likely they were swamped by three days of high winds and rough seas. Gore conveniently left out that part of the story.
Now we come to find that the chief researcher who discovered the dead polar bears is being investigated for engaging in what I often call the Junk Science Shuffle.”
This is from Becky Bohrer of the Associated Press, July 28, 2011:
Charles Monnett was one of the scientists whose observation that several polar bears had drowned in the Arctic Ocean helped galvanize the global warming movement.
Now, the wildlife biologist is on administrative leave and facing accusations of scientific misconduct.
The federal agency where he works told him he was on leave pending the results of an investigation into “integrity issues.” A watchdog group believes it has to do with the 2006 journal article about the bear, but a source familiar with the investigation said late Thursday that placing Monnett on leave had nothing to with scientific integrity or the article.
The source, who was not authorized to speak publicly about the ongoing investigation, wouldn’t comment further.
The watchdog, Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility, filed a complaint on Monnett’s behalf Thursday with the agency, the U.S. Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Regulation and Enforcement.
Investigators have not yet told Monnett of the specific charges or questions related to the scientific integrity of his work, said Jeff Ruch, the watchdog group’s executive director. His group released excerpts of interviews investigators conducted with Monnett and fellow researcher Jeffrey Gleason, in which they were questioned about the observations that led to the article.
I’m obviously confident Mr. Monnet has been caught doing the Junk Science Shuffle with Al Gore–in fact doing the dance with their pants down. And wow, it’s not pretty.
I won’t hold my breath for an apology from Al Gore.

That guy in the video is a moron. Seriously, he is entirely full of contradictions. It's dipshits like that douchebag that foment hatred and division in our own country (which is entirely UN-patriotic). Jumping to the conclusions of the hikers being "anti-American leftists" while simultaneously alluding to their employ at the behest of the US government is obviously contradictory. He also mentions how liberals refer to the US being "the most repressive nation in the world" while it's entirely obvious that the so-called conservative that posted this video has posted his opinion of just how repressive this country is, writ large.

The sentiment this jack-ass shares is shameful. A self-assured blow-hard with no credentials worth mentioning spewing hatred for other Americans because of their (perceived) political orientation is an overall negative to society. If you actually found yourself agreeing with what he has said, you need to get your fucking head checked. This asshole is no better than the social conservatives of Islamist countries around the world (recent thread nod, there), believing that his way is the only way. What a jack-ass...

And, is that McDonalds cup in his hand?

What are you talking about? Nothing I said has anything to do with Al Gore. I addressing the OP's video.
The video was about Al Gore!!!!! WTF? Are you feeling ok? Don't be pissed off becasue Al Gore is a racist just like his daddy. Its not your fault. Why would somebody vote against the civil rights act if they are not a racist? I'd love to hear a reason why. Nobody can give me one.

His inflexible idealogy is similar in composition, it's the same mentality. That's the problem.

Infact, the two (WildBill & the wife-beating islamist) have QUITE a lot in common.
like what? they both have black clothes in their closets? they both bought shoes within the last 5 years? they both have skin? i guess you are right, a lot in common.

Gore Going Insane?

Posted by Brian Sussman in Nationally Published Columns on Aug 9th, 2011 |

Despite his Nobel Prize, Oscar and a net worth likely surpassing $100 million, Al Gore is a miserable failure. He lost his one big shot at the White House, his family is a mess and his marriage to Tipper, his college sweetheart, ended in ruin due to his affair with actor Larry David’s wife.
The other aspect of Gore’s life that sucks is his insistence that mankind’s burning of fossil fuels is warming the planet. The science he relies on for this belief is riddled with holes, and on a weekly basis more and more well known scientists are voicing their skepticism or denial regarding the theory of anthropogenic global warming.
Last week Gore’s mental instability was on display for all to behold at the liberal Aspen Institute where he stood before a crowd and said, “They pay pseudo-scientists to pretend to be scientists to put out the message: ‘This climate thing, it’s nonsense. Man-made CO2 doesn’t trap heat. It may be volcanoes.’ Bullshit! ‘It may be sun spots.’ Bullshit! ‘It’s not getting warmer.’ Bullshit!”
Here is a link to the audio of Gore’s bombastic tirade.
The entire article was posted at The Colorado Independent and written by Troy Hooper, but I’ll also post it below:
————
The former vice president dropped in on an Aspen Institute media forum titled “Networks and Citizenship” on Thursday and railed against corporate evildoers who put profit above society.
Gore referenced the book “Merchants of Doubt: How a Handful of Scientists Obscured the Truth on Issues from Tobacco Smoke to Global Warming” by Naomi Oreskes and Erik M. Conway, which tells of how petroleum, steel, autos, utilities and others enlisted lobbyists to cloud the climate debate.
Gore recalled how not long ago tobacco giants “succeeded in delaying the implementation of the surgeon general’s report for 40 years – 40 years! In every one of those 40 years the average number of Americans killed by cigarettes each year exceeded the total number of Americans killed in all of World War II: 450,000 per year. My sister was one of them. … It was evil, evil, evil.”
The model of media manipulation used then, Gore said, “was transported whole cloth into the climate debate. And some of the exact same people — I can go down a list of their names — are involved in this. And so what do they do? They pay pseudo-scientists to pretend to be scientists to put out the message: ‘This climate thing, it’s nonsense. Man-made CO2 doesn’t trap heat. It may be volcanoes.’ Bullshit! ‘It may be sun spots.’ Bullshit! ‘It’s not getting warmer.’ Bullshit!” Gore exclaimed.
“When you go and talk to any audience about climate, you hear them washing back at you the same crap over and over and over again,” he continued. “There’s no longer a shared reality on an issue like climate even though the very existence of our civilization is threatened. People have no idea! … It’s no longer acceptable in mixed company, meaning bipartisan company, to use the goddamn word climate. It is not acceptable. They have polluted it to the point where we cannot possibly come to an agreement on it.”

They both have a vested interest in social conservatism because it serves their purposes.

Holy hell what is your malfunction, munchbox?

So you are talking about a video about Al Gore, but you are not talking about Al Gore? When you call people a blow-hard and a jack-ass without backing it up, then shit normally hits the fan real quick. Maybe some poeple are just passionate about the truth. And also people don't like to be called a racist. Ecspecially when the reason why has to do with "man-made" global warming. I can understand his resentment towards Al Gore. Makes total sense to me....

apparently he thinks post #41 is the only post in this thread and can't process that you watched and commented on the OP instead of his video.
Alright. Well if thats the case Ruiner, then I'm sorry. I thought you were talking about the sussman......
