Legalization of Marijuana in Michigan will happen in 2016!

We don't need another miss hap like lapeer where it was missed by only 6 votes! If we get everyone to pay attention and vote we will be legalized! Just keep your eye out for any petitions in the mean time and not only sign them but share them with everyone you know!

Yep, 252,000 valid signatures, to be exact. And with at least two of the three legalization groups sounding pretty well organized, planned and funded, it sure looks like we will have recreational use on the ballot in Nov. of 2016. The latest polls put the public opinion at about 50% favoring legalization, 46% opposed, and 4% undecided. Leading up to the election, we are certain to see a lot of "public service" advertising for and against the proposal(s). If the ads can sway even another 1 or 2% of voters in favor of legalization, and we can split the undecided votes, it might shake out 54/46 in favor of legalization. Heck, in politics these days, 54% support is a landslide!

Timing of the petition circulation is an issue. Once you start collecting signatures, you have only 182 days to collect all 252,000, verify them, and submit them. The groups will probably wait until they have sufficient funding to pay some professional signature gatherers. I don't expect a major hurdle hitting 252. Heck, there are almost 125,000 medical marijuana patients in Michigan!

And once we get the sigs, its IN.

If the (R)s ignore or deny it, it goes to the ballots, and the people approve.... If they approve, we get it sooner :)

Biggest prob will be making sure all the stoners are legally registered to vote, and get out and do so...

Apparently, we are getting all serious up in here now. We now have market research groups doing public opinion polls on legalization in Michigan. This is BEFORE what I assume will be a big educational and marketing push leading up to the Nov. 2016 ballot initiatives. Interestingly, the poll last week shows an actual majority in favor of legalization - 51% in favor, 45% opposed, 4 % unsure.
