Legality of Plant Matter?

Hello,

I live i Canada, and am patiently waiting for my medical marijuana prescription.

I am wondering though, what is the legality of having shake, not actual buds?

I have had LARGE quantities of shake in my possession, would the police view it pound for pound the same as they view the actual buds?

Shake from outdoor growing, buds removed (although not always methodically).

i'm not sure about canada, but here in the us, any part of a cannabis plant is considered illegal, we can't even possess seeds in the us as they're considered live and can be grown into a living cannabis plant... in canada, you can possess seeds, so i'm not sure about shake, but my gut would say it would also be illegal..
now you have me curious..
