2 Lowes and HDs later I bought 2 Cree bulbs. The supposed 10w bulbs are 9.5 watts and the supposed $9.95 was $12.97, but I bought 2 WW and will continue to shop (on line this time) before opening

The cree 60w equivalent are thirteen bucks and the 40w equivalent is under ten bucks. The Phillips brand is almost double the price for the same wattage. The cree bulbs are the best led replacement bulbs ATM for general lighting, don't know about it's use for growing......well have to wait and see what Fran Jan results are.

Installed one of the Crees in the Mother tent, the other will go in the clone tent

Pic update from yesterday. I made some room in the pseudo tent by adding a riser under the bubble bath, then using the cut out tote. This brings the clones closer to the light but with room to grow. The big one is basketball size

The Cree globes feel like they could be silicone...

“Advanced LED light sources are fueling rapid global demand for innovative new materials that perform under very harsh conditions, especially high temperatures and power densities,” said Eric Peeters, vice president, Dow Corning Electronic Solutions. “As a dedicated collaboration and innovation partner, Dow Corning is joining with our customers to meet this demand with LED silicone technologies. In this way, we can play an active role in helping them to drive the cost-effective and reliable development of true next-generation LED devices.”

Offering excellent optical-quality and a variety of refractive index values, Dow Corning silicones allow designers to more effectively shape light and improve efficiency. Plus, the outstanding thermal stability intrinsic to these materials enables them to retain their excellent transparency and color quality even after prolonged exposure to temperatures exceeding 150ºC. Thus, compared to organic polymers like polycarbonate and acrylic, silicones provide a more effective hedge against heat-induced yellowing of optical elements in high-intensity lamp and luminaire designs.

It's a silicone covering on frosted glass. The glass is very thin, so careful if you do remove the globes. It's for the diffusion effect and how much % of light it removes is my question.

Glad to have you here experimenting with LED screw in bulbs. Look forward to seeing your progress. Those Crees, for the price, sounds great. Hope you get good results - I'm thinking of using some to grow some Veggies indoors (Swiss Chard, Spinach, Carrots). Using CFL, now, but would like to switch to LED. Subbed up!

^^ Thanks. I wonder how I managed to do that? The 9.5w CREE looks almost as bright as my 17w Philips RP bulb (maybe it's not 17w)

Clones

I trimmed the hell out of the primary leafs in order to get some light to the 2 that were completely blocked. This also bought me some time, which is allowing me to wait a few more days to harvest the plants from the HOT5. They are 'ready' but, I want to get a bit more relief from the pull of the full moon, so probably Wednesday. I moved the Monster clones into a bubbler in my kitchen window as they had not rooted (normal- the older the clone the longer it takes to root) but were not getting light either. Plenty of light now that I added the CREE 9.5 WW + a 7.5w WW on an extender

In the few days since I moved the Monster Clones to the kitchen window, where they are getting plenty of bubbles and light, one has 6 roots @ ~ 1/2":bigjoint:

Can you talk a bit more about the pull of the moon? We try to harvest around full moon outdoors but I never thought about the pull in my indoor garden until I just read this.

There is a discussion on another thread about harvesting by the moon phases, which I do. The person wanted to know where he could access the 411. I decided to dig around and see what else I could find besides the simple wax/wane technique.

The moon is 20 days old

Last quarter

Synodic:

This is not a good time to be sowing anything in the garden. Instead use this time to weed and harvest from the garden. It is an excellent time to start building a new compost heap.

Biodynamic:
Moon in Sagittarius: This is a Fire sign. This is a good time to sow Fruiting plants like Aubergines, Broad Beans, Cucumber, French Beans, Marrow, Peas, Peppers, Pumpkin, Runner Beans, Squash, Sweetcorn, Tomatoes, but it would not be a good time to sow Leaf plants like Basil, Brussels Sprouts, Cabbages, Celeriac, Celery, Dill, Kale, Lettuce, Rhubarb, Spinach, Swiss Chard,

Sidereal:
Moon in Capricorn: Potatoes and tubers planted now will have a strong growth.

Yeah, it helped me too. I was thinking to wait until Wednesday to harvest, but looking at the sidebars, I upped it to tomorrow evening. Turned off the lights around 1pm, leaving them in a low natural light room instead of pitch black

This means I can move Phoenix or the clones to the HOT5. Undecided as to which way to go. On one hand I want to grow the clones under globe bulb leds, not employing the UFO unless they are aren't doing as well as their mother has with it

I got a couple clone led questions on another site, so I took some pics. Might as well post here, too

Pic 3 shows one of my vanity fixtures resting on top of my ufo 90 with extenders, splitters and supplemental leds

I continue to be amazed at how much Phoenix's buds are fattening up, plus, this quantity of tric production is really cool to experience. I would not be surprised if (as Poly said) a few more weeks. Fortunately, one portion of a branch about midway snapped. I tried to support it, but it's wilting now. I clipped it and will have 2 decent size nuggz to smoke soon :weed:
