LED was the future

Any LED fans from 2015, you remember plenty of naysayers.

I was at the grow shop yesterday and chatting with the owner. Another customer mentioned he was using LED and I was a lil excited, asked him what brand. After he left I said to the owner, good to see some peeps using LED. He said...

"That's pretty much all we sell anymore"

Yea!

Still plenty of naysayers

All those cheap ass companies have made leaps n bounds off the back of you n all the other inovators though.
Must be good to know your a part of that.

Nice to see you still about

Funny how they went back to the beginning with many low powered diodes. In 2015 everyone was spouting that high powered diodes were essential. Then cob's took over, and here we are again.
It's best for profit margin I guess. I still like cobs. I like big fat pin fin sinks and under driving. I still have a dream to build lamps from CLU058-3618... maybe 25 watts a piece :D just for the hell of it.

Cobs are easy to diy with for sure. I had some good grows under mine.
4 cmt series cree's at 50w a piece on gpu coolers.

Sounded like a drone flying in there :)

Think that's what mine are in 90cri, been so long I've forgot. Not at 25w though
Loaned out and still working great though

Yeah, the "led is not worth it yet, its still in development"-crowd seems to still exist though. The bro-science still runs deep in the grower comunity.
In the end its absolutely pointless to be invested in what light people use, whether hid or led. It wont change your grow one bit if the neighbours use another type of light :)

The 3618s are 180 watt emitters at nominal voltage. The citizens I've used are 1825s which are 60% efficient at 50 watts. I haven't done the math on the 3618s but I would be surprised if it's not 70% efficiency for 3618s in the 25 watt range. Expensive, but I want that. The AC savings would be worth the investment. One day.

Do you see the cob tech advancing to the efficiency level of the newest mid-powers?
I always liked the direct "cob-replacement" type pcb's with the spectrum customization aspect :peace:

i still like and use this setup i made 4 years ago. cxb1830s each run at 25 watts. gonna upgrade soon but not sure to what as these have been running hard for a while now. i’ll either change out the diodes and fans on this one or buy a bar style like mars hydro has.

I wish I could find all the old articles from the late 80's about "the wave of the future" in LED lights because NASA was experimenting with them, Blurple at that. Now here we are almost 40 years later, and the technology has come to the forefront. I was a die hard HPS grower, now that I've made the investments into LED's, I won't ever look back.
I'm really liking the 2 that I bought, and more than happy with how my plants are growing, IMO they are growing way better than under my HPS.
