i dont think your qualified to be answering any questions on this subject when your the one asking them. When did i say a multimeter lied blackstars actually use 120watts so your incorrect on the 135 number. You ask newb questions like what LED is better go read what you wrote you fuckin pud. ignored u and unsubscribed from this fuckin waste of time thread thats gone so far down hill its beyond reclamation.
This is exactly why RIU sucks now :/

Knowledge is free.....why not spread it?

@kapt kron dont take it personal brother, this thread wears down on anyone who actually grows with led's and know how to use them properly........i gave up here a few months back and i only check in occasionaly

So true. What we use to acheive our personal goal for the majority is what we are able to afford. Remember those that were first to post specifies facts based on first hand knowledge have our own views. But and this hurts we should also respect and value those that wish to sway our own opinions thru use of written text.

I have no idea what you just said but I will defend to the death your right to say it! Seriously though, I think I'm not high enough to understand what you are trying to say.

This thread was incredibly long, but I managed to learn a lot. Thanks Fuoro, Grumpy, Astro, Dunit, Karma, Kush, T-shirt, 660nm (Kessils ~ for someone asking for someone with first hand exp. & a different opinion than what's been displayed in the last dozen pages of this thread)And many others that had & will have relevant input on here. Now everyone resubscribe and keep it poppin. The petty bickering does get annoying but mildly entertaining after medicating, but a little cordiality at least on this treasured thread would go a long way. Once again thanks and I'll see you around the threads.

My question is, can you use LED/CFL combinations to still get the same type of effect a HPS/MH would have on perpetual SoG?
Has anyone done this?
If this question has already been asked i apologize.

Im my personal experience I would use HPS with led. It's funny I grew the first crop in my perpetual room with straight led and wasent impressed with yeild but bud quality was excelent. I added a digital switchable 1000 HPS and holy wa!.

yea, thats a good combo, but i think if you would have stuck with the straight panel game you would have eventually found that you can equal yeild. That being said it depends largely on growing skill as well as making sure you have a good panel to use without those, yea your really going to want to add hps for yield and that right there is a fuckin amazing combo can really get some frosty ass buds.

You wouldn't need to combine LED with CFL to get the same effect as HPS/MH, this is the advantage to using LED - You can pick and choose what wavelengths you want.

The major advantage I can think of when combining LEDs with other grow lights is light intensity. Maybe not so much with CFL, but HPS/MH certainly will help out in that department.
Some supplement LEDs with CFL for the UV.. cheaper than $30 a pop for UV LEDs.

cost far too dear man

there are cheaper out there

nice chips though
Besides ChinaCrap on Ebay, all I've found is SuperBright LEDs... $6.60 a piece, at lots of 10.. and only 1W each. The LedEngin's are 5W each. Price is basically the same per watt. Only thing to consider.. how does the quality compare? I've read issues with LedEngins, but that may be just the user.. running too hot maybe? Although it maxes out at 5W, doesn't mean you need to run it at 5W.. 50% would ensure a longer life, and still give plenty of intensity.

HPS i feel is needed for a strong base to grow with. I want to add LED's to get the full spectrum, but I don't believe they have the growing power for leds only. Well at the current cost level you can't match the lumens, which are important, for the pricing. One annual will soak up at least 38k lumens. Having only 5k lumens with 4 or 5 spectrums of light vs the 10k lumens from 2 spectrums you could get from HPS/MPH for the same price hinders the LED cause. I love the look of the LEDS, I just need them to produce more radiation for the ladies for me to feel any immediate need to use them.
