has anyone else purchased one of these lights or done anything with it ("Pro Series Full Spectrum 300 Watt 300W LED Quad Band Hydroponic Grow Light Replacement for 1000 Watt HPS, 2511RBOW")?

Well I dont know about the other companies, but have had very good luck with the LED's that Sunshine-Systems puts out.You also mite want to consider the Glowpanel45 if your just gonna use it for vegging, although they work awsome for flowering as well.
please do not say mite:neutral:

I counted the diodes to see how many of each type make up the 2010 90watt ufo.

20reds, 8 deep reds, 50 ho warm white, 10 blue whites, 1 uv & 1 infrared.

If I understand correctly aren't the warm whites for flowering just as it would be with cfl's ?
Generally that is true. Overall the warm whites are the most inefficient since they produce much light in the middle of the spectrum (green/yellow) but they also put out a little in the far red/near infra-red part of the spectrum whereas the cool whites usually don't. This is the critical part needed to support flowering (690-740nm). You don't need much so this with the one infra-red led should be enough to make this a decent flowering lamp. Do a search for "infrared flowering" and you should find some info to help understand how a flowering plant uses infrared.

I'm starting to think this model is not just for vegging. Why would a company release a model which would be for vegging & it costs more than their traditional red & blue ufo ?
True the red/blue or red/blue/orange models are only useful for veg and worthless for flowering.

I personally believe that gotham is sitting on a large stock of their 2009 model & want to move them out the door before they get stuck with them or let them go for cheap & take a loss because buyers are purchasing their 2010 models & not the 2009. If you check out their ebay items for sale, they have auction listings, buy it nows & make best offers for the 2009 model yet no auction listings for the 2010, just buy it now & make best offer for the 2010 model. They must not be in a hurry to push them out the door until the 2009s are gone. Who knows, time will tell & definitely I'll have my answer with my experiment
You are probably right and we can probably make some low-ball offers on the 2009 models for the cloning/mother/vegging chambers. The more people choose the 2010 model the lower they will be willing to go just to offload the older models.

Hey Mookie,

Out of curiosity, are you using the single 90w UFO for both veging and flowering? I'm thinking about purchasing a 90w UFO for my 3x3 space with 3-4 plants. From your expierence do you think this 90w will be suffiecent?

Photos of my clone 4 weeks into flowering with just using the one 6band ufo. The clone is only 16" tall.

My next grow test will be with two of these ufo's on a 3 footer grown from seed. If I can get a qp with two or even using 3 ufo's I'll never use hps or mh again to grow my meds. I'll keep everyone up to date with more photos of this current test.

iv been trying out alot of leds. my ufo works great plant growth is better then 400hps. up tell it gets about 13inchs. the led light does not work well for large plants. iv found that using a few 90watt ufo to work better then a 120watt or 300. only because u can place the light close to branches. i cut some of the cables and made them shorter on one side to angle the light in. iv also tried placing cfl around the plants that works ok. i wish someone would make a leds in a stick or tube so u could do a vertical grow i think that would work the best.

Mookie are you satisfied with your yield? Do you think you would have more yield if you used an HPS?

I have 3-4 more weeks to go before I harvest this clone. I can't answer your question because I never grew a clone before or any plant @ only 16". I will say this, I do have plans to get two more of these ufo's & do a one plant scrog grow with using three total ufo's during flowering. I love my hps but I'm very happy with not having to deal with heat issues. I'll still use hps in the winter time, otherwise it's led's for me.

I just got one of these UFO's and i like how it looks and functions so far. Ihave not yet actually grown with it as my seeds are still germinating. I like what you are showing up here mookie! I will be watching your grow very closely so that i will better know what to expect. Also so far you and one other person on rollitup.org are the only 2 people that I have seen do a legit grow with these UFO's. I am really looking forward to your end results! hope it continues to grow well!:blsmoke:

Can you mount these (and or the led panels) vertically? or even angled downward on a 45 deg angle? I have short enclosure (26") and want to maximize my grow height....

thanks!

I've seen photos where people have mounted panels on their sides with personal rigging techniques. You would have to use your creative mind to get these to hang other than from being hung from above.

as mookie said, you would need to use your creative mind to mount it vertically or at an angle. it has 3 small metal loops which to hang it from but with a small amount of effort i don't belive it would be difficult at all to mount it the way you'd like to. at least thats for the LED UFO, as far as a panel goes i have not actually seen one in person, though i may invest in a couple in the future. and 26" is really not a ideal height to grow any plant at all. you'd be real lucky to flower a plant in that height range.

hey mookie what are the little yellow spots on the big leaf i see in that last pic there? sure hope u aren't getting a mite problem! otherwise u got a great lookin plant there man! hope i have the same luck or even better!

No bug problems here, it was a lil nute burn from trying out flora nova bloom at one of the feedings. I should of tested at a lesser strength than normal strength first. All is good with her. Good luck with yours, keep me posted. I'll post some more before & after the chop. :peace:
