Yeahh....but which manufacturers buy these chips?
I hear Viparspectra make a really good cree cob now.
Id go with that one
Why would you "go with that one"? You know nothing about it. Vipar, up to this point, has basically been making shitty, inefficient LEDs. What makes you think they're gonna knock it out of the park with their first COB based light?

You want to see a quality cob light? http://timbergrowlights.com/

These threads keep popping up year after year. LEDs are good grow lights but you're gonna have to spend money. There's no such thing as cheap pre-built LED fixture, if you want cheap you're gonna have to DIY. And if you've only used cheap purple shit from China, then you don't have any right to go "hurr LEDs are shit my 20$ HPS bulb has worked for 20 years".

I used HPS for a few runs when I couldn't source 400w Retro whites locally, they're complete shit. I don't even bother with HPS grown weed anymore. I used 315w CMHs for several years, but my next lights are going to be Quantums since I don't have a lot of room anymore.

I love 315s. I run PCBs as well, but I'm using the Sunboards as opposed to the Quantums.

I'm really interested in that new ceramic 600 that just came out. Waiting for a couple guys to finish their grows so I can see the results.

i feel the same way as you, but in reverse. i feel like cmh is overpriced shit with no penetration, and suck compared to a good hps. GOOD leds are still too expensive to justify the switch from my tested and true hps. when the quality goes up a little more, and the price comes down a lot more, i'll think about it.
I've personally done side by sides, and 2 315s definitely outperform a 6. There is an obvious difference, both in quantity and quality.

Do you know if theyre still using leds now, after a couple years?
I was curious also but could not see information saying what they are using now on there website or other social media so IDK.
I only took a quick look.
Here's the link to their dispensary if anyone wants it. They should have current info on what they are using somewhere.

Thats got be a regret there eh? what a fuckin investment in blurple limited spectrum LED, all the while the manu swore up and down with charts that it was rockin the world, just like every year.

missing spectrum = missing expressions !

Know what, those parking lot hps from the seventies still grow great weed without question, not much has changed with those from year to year I thinks.

wonder how many led units the company paid for?

I love these threads!
There's actually quite a bit of knowledge for people spread throughout it if you can sift through the back and forth argument.

As far as I see it, the situation is this. LEDs are the future. Hids are a relic of the past, from a time when we didn't know or couldn't do any better.
That being said, led light companies need to cut their prices quite dramatically if they expect people to switch or even continue using their products.
I understand it's a business and this is how people make a living, but the prices are extortionate. Which is why we have a thriving scene of DIY LED builds.

Will we ever find out what 3 lights that guy used? I'm so curious now!

@chiqifella I was only considering the mass of the flowers, which, fortunately, isn't subjective. As far as the other subjective qualities... I've never had an LED improve my cure! (Which I assign more responsibility for the other attributes.) Don't let the trolls get to you... You speak the truth!
I believe you're speaking of all those unburned carbs remaining in your flowers at harvest, how long you need to ferment the weed just to make it taste decent?
