LED question

I'm growing 8 plants in a 4x8 room. I have a 600w led light but that obviously won't be enough for the 8 plants. If i buy a 300w led light ( would buy another 600w but too expensive right now), would that be enough light for all plants? newb

I held off before posting this but since no one jumped in I would have thought maybe to get a light mover, they must be cheaper than a new light.

What's your budget? What brand of light do you already own?

viparspectra . I guess what I'm trying to ask is will some plants be different than the rest because they have more of the 300w light shining on them compared to the plants with more of the 600w light shining on them . Or does it not matter because it's all in one room and right next to each other ?

Yes they will have different saturation levels so they will respond different. Again I wonder what kind of a budget you are working with. 8 plants can take a lot of light in flower, depending on veg time. The 600w viper is actually roughly 350w so I think your good for 4 plants roughly. I think an actually 400w hps would perform better for the same if not better price

Okay so if I buy a 400w hps light and put it next to the 600w led light over the 8 plants will that still work ? I plan on going up to 5 gal bucket with them if all goes well . My budget is preferably no more than 140. I paid 190 for the led .

I'm thinking so I'd even go up to a 600w if you could manage the heat, its still in the same price range and it performs significantly better. I really like LED but you get what you pay for. Check out the cob led grows on the website! Expensive, but totally worth it.

Post this in the LED subforum, but generally, the advice I've seen is 50 watts per sq. ft. for HPS, and 25-50 watts per sq. ft. for LED. The range for LED is because LEDs have a wide range of performance characteristics based on the diodes used and how hard they are driven.

This is true! The vipar performs just under your standard hps imo so might as well get more wattage /light for your money
