Anybody have any layout ideas? i ordered 12 3500k and 4 4000k. i will have them covering a 3x6 space. I was thinking of building one fixture 2x5 and possibly putting the 4-4500's in the middle with no reflector to get more spread and mimimize hot spots. so basically a pattern like this. I plan to use angle aluminum and am using pin heatsinks.

. . . . . . XXXXXX
. . . . . . . XXXX
. . . . . . XXXXXX

Ignore those dots. Its my phones fault

Thoughts?

Use 3 bars of 4 and stagger the middle bar off center from the outer ones.

What do you think of my idea of putting the 4-4000k in the middle with no reflector for better spread over the canopy and to reduce hotspots?

My idea of 3 bars was because i only ordered 4 4000k and dont know(havent figured out) how to balance them out in the mix.

I am super stoked about this project. It should work out good timing wise as I have to chop next week and itll make it a lot easier to get everything set up.

I would be very surprised if you will see any difference no matter where you put the 4000k. There was minimal difference, for me, between 4000k 80cri and 3200k 95+cri. look in my sig and look a couple pages back.

If you're trying to mix 4k, I'd do 4 bars of 4, one 4k on each bar.bit keep them in one of the center 2 positions.

So I bought a kill a watt and for everything I use right now I am pulling just under 20A on a 15A breaker! lol My 2- 600W HPS pull 653W each at full power.

My new plan is 4 HLG-185H-C700B and 16 CXB3590 CD in 3500K. Maybe 4 of those in 4000. That will be 800watts +/- draw so 500 less than the HPS. I want to do 20, but want to use less watts and this will be a good starting point. Plus I can build either 1 or 2 fixtures and plan to have the drivers mounted on the fixtures. I am cautiously optimistic!

Did you miss type this, you say HLG-185h-c700b but your screen shot of the calc shows 1400mA

Ah glad to hear it, I saw it this morning just as I had to dash out to work. My heart sank thinking you had ordered the 700s.
Looking forward to seeing your build.
Am I right in thinking your covering a 3ft x 6ft?

edit, never mind, you already answered that Q above

What size should I make my fixture. Since it is over twp 3x3 trays should i make it 3x6"? I was thinkin somewhere around 2.5' x 5.5 feet. I am going to use the angelina reflectors and onviously want all light on my canopy.

Right now my room is pretty large and half is covered in panda film. My plan is to put up a panda film curtain to make another wall essentially to hopefully better utilize the light. essentially making a "tent" out of panda film.

Well my goodies arrived today. Only 3 1/2 days since I placed the order. Super stoked right now. Also, for those of you that are planning to order from KingBrite I can't recommend them enough. And the dimmer I got is the shit. I thought it was just going to be a regular old potentiometer and felt like the $15 I paid was too much. This thing has a dial dimmer like expected but also has a remote.
