LED lights.

I think most new growers hit a crossroads in lighting because there are so many choices. Thing is everything works and everything can work great if its done right. would you have to double the wattage of a HPS in CFL to get the same results, prolly but it can be done. are any of them perfect no. which is why this crossroad is hit. Older growers are already invested and therefore have seen results but of only one kind(generalization). Some newer growers also invest alot off the bat and they have a perfect system cuz they know nothing else and spent so much. Instead of doin research ppl often ask the question"what lighting is best for me" and then listen to one of the guys who has only grown one way telling them its the best, when in fact lots of ppl have grown many different ways. And by listening to some guy saying they are the best they play into the whole thing by spewing out the only thing they had learned thru the whole process and that is , " my shit is better than yours and smells nicer too." Because they didnt do the damn research themselves. Not bashing anyone just saying what is clearly so evident. And it kinda makes me sick because when you boil the motherfucker down no body knows shit.

Not trying to get into a war w/ ya Bigv, I just know as a former HID user, SOME LED's work well, while other companies are crap, I get better results with LED using ff. This was last harvest...

Lemon Skunk from Seed to Mom to Clone

i have found leds' and cfl's to be acceptable for vege, but go with hps for budding, check out rumpleforskins led grow on some other forum, google it and you will get it, its a full grow, and well worth reading.

And so it continues... Thanks for proving my point there phxwhatever.
Can I post links to 420magazine forum grow journals with proof that certain companies LEDs can flower? I've seen a 300w LED that is performing as well as a 400w MH (for veg) and a 400w HPS (for flower), the harvest is being weighed in soon but from the pre harvest pics you can't tell which is which they are so close to each other.

What a bunch of tools!!

Crimble; don't mind the kids. There's no way to keep them off the site. Just ignore their posts; as insignificant as they are.

LED's when used correctly, work very well.
you have to keep in mind that the majority of children on this site are able to reiterate only what they read. It's like the schoolground, some are followers, some are leaders.

keep up the great work!

Here's one of my ladies under 120W LED 12/12 from seed.

Thx Dystopian. You need to give them some time; as the recess bell has another 20 minutes or so to go.

Check this out and tell me that isn't quality! Yes $999 for a 300w LED (total draw of 360 I think) is a lot of money but that thing is doing just as well as the 400w MH/HPS (wet weights on harvest were better for the LED still waiting for dry weight though)

I'm not so sure that is a convincing argument. How much would you pay for a 400w MH/HPS?

I'm not arguing against LED here, but compare apples to apples. I mean I could probably spend $1000 on nightlights and get a good grow.

So with the original poster in mind, how much LED would you suggest to equal a 150w HPS setup. What color types? What can he expect to spend to match the coverage and yield of the 150 hps?

Get 1 Kessil H150 LED Jefferstone they around 250-300$

I agree need compare apples to apples.

To do this you need compare a good 400w HPS setup Cost to a 400w HPS comparable LED setup.
I run HPS and LED and after alot of research still find it difficult to do exact comparison but will do my best. First off some LED work well and alot of them are junk from people trying to make money. Heres a price estimate and I've done a ton of shopping around the last year. A quality LED should be compare to a quality HPS tho.

400 watt HPS bulbx2 88$ (horitlux eye)+ Decent Hood 120$ (average mid-top end hood)(perhaps Aircooled) + Ballast 140$ (new lumatek digital) + 30$ a month for electricity over 1 year.

Approx 750$ over the first year for 400w HPS but need replace bulb every year if not sooner

LED 90w UFO

250$ for the 90W UFO mixed blue and red which will veg and flower + approx 8$ a month electricity operating cost

Approx 346$

While the 90w UFO advertised they compare to a 400w HPS I do not beleive it and I would get 3 Kessil LED @ 250$ each bringing the cost up to around 850$ more expensive than the HPS setup but also more powerful with 3 seperate focused light sources.

Thats my comparison prices are estimated and electricity is based on approx 2.8cents per kilowatt hour rate.

Best of Luck

You can make your own 30w High Power LED for less than $100. Thought I'd share this here. I'm planning on making one out of a 40W LEDengin and the sickest Heatsink on Newegg. There is a diffuser that is made for the 40w that screws into the heatsink. Seems like a crazy fun project.

Thank you, Lindsley.

Killeroxx really ?

There are several test on the 90w UFO they can produce good results and as far as the Kessils they have only been on the market 5 weeks in select test markets. You claim you've tested them already and they suck. Youre story makes no sense killeroxx. Explain why you did not like them and how you tested them on a 8-9 weeks flowering phase or 4 week veg phase and which one the Kessil or the 90w UFO as i talk about both in my last post.

growledhydro 300 units (total draw 360w) perform as well if not better than 400w MH/HPS and the proof is splattered all over 420magazine.com forums I can post links but I think that is against the rules is it not?

This is a pikkie of one of my baby girls that is being grown for seed production, just benn pollinated.

It is not huge as it was never meant to be, but the bud density is amazing.

Grown under a Kessil H150 Magenta light.
