Have some experience overseas outdoors so not really a n00b but to indoor and LEDs I am but I understand everything after years of hearing and now researching

Just a few questions concerning budget LEDs for a small tent grow 2x2 maybe

Is vispar the go to brand? I know stay away from the chinese knock offs.

What about mars or roleando has a new COB 400W LED that should be optimal for 2x2 for under 100

Just an idea not gonna bother growing now

Probably gonna want to save abit more. Those lights get very few good reviews from what i see. HGL has a 135 watt(real from wall, most cheap lights say 400 but are not even half)at $208. Its good for 3x3 veg or 2.5x2.5 flower. Its quantum board(very good led like cobs) and gets very nice results. Im getting it soon and eventually a second. I see lots getting the 260 but its $400+ if i recall.

If you are buying new, get a COB fixture for sure. 2x2 tent, no more than 400w for sure and make sure you've got plenty of ventilation points to keep things balanced for your grow.

Just to know thx guys, so I guess its true mars pays reviewers to stroke their cocks.

What in reality would be a TRUE budget brand? Roleandro 400W COB I listed?

I would grow now Im just located in not even grey state barely. If you want a coffee analogy and cali and colorado are super espresso and say boston is half half, well uhh this is chai latte sissy mango town. Im thinking of heading west dunno, maybe then. Just got my seed case with bag seeds but a few GDP and Bubbah hidden somewhere and want to make mommys from them one of these days and grow my medicine :)

PS: DIY? I guess buying premadei is like buying a n00b retail PC while DIY is building your own PC and cheaper ?

Mars and Vipar, you just listed two of the brands to NOT buy. Do as the others suggested and save up for a real light. You could do a little more reading in the LED section and DIY your own light and save even more money.

In defense of mars hydro I didnt have much money 3 years ago bought a mars 96 reflector and its runnin as we speak i have done 5 grows with it in a 2.5 x 3 closet painted white and some panda film on floor and it has been great. Nit the best. Im shopping now for better lights i dont like the blurple but for 160 bucks Wtf .... never had a diode go out never had a fan quit it is quiet as a mouse it vegs awesome flowers ok but for a starter i gotta say I dont know why ppl are so hard on them. I dont disagree it aint the greatest light ever engineered but it has done the job and then some. I sure wont toss it out until it dies but I do want to get the quantum boards and I will use my mars for starting my veggie garden just check spectrum check footprint and for me at the time it was worth every cent. So as far as the "cheapo" lights go I cant say you would go wrong starting andbInlearned a lot by using it also. Great beginer light. And no i dint work for them or nuthin lol I just think its ok to buy. Good light and it paid for itself east.
Good luck I hope the opinion of a semi nood helps

Read http://ledgardener.com/diy-led-strip-build-designs-samsung-bridgelux/
Get an aluminum rimmed baking sheet to mount everything onto it and hang it. Plenty of photons for your space and dirt cheap.
Samsung makes some of the best silicon RAM for PCs, im going to guess their LED tech comes from their monitors which are top notch. So now that this is clarified ill guess making one from samsung parts would cost me as much as a california lightworks LED....

Grab one of these beauties from timber grow lights ....
Fully dimmable COBS ( 3000 or 3500 k ) ...
Fully built - ready to hang

Then as you up size space in the future and grab another to place along side.
