LED for small veg box

So I have a small metal file draw that I would love to get back to. I was going to use it as a micro grow but I didn't want to be limited so small. So now I thinking I could you it to start my seeds and and give them a few weeks of veg...so I no cfls work great for something but I don't want to fall to fall behind on idea of led to grow. Not to sure if I want to spend hundreds on something I don't understand so this veg box would be perfect to learn with....the box is about 3 feet tall. I hear LEDs light can't get to close or it will bleach the plant or something. Any help would be great

or you could wait for the 5000k ones. I'm not sure what's better, 5000k at lower efficiency or 3000k at higher efficiency. I haven't found cxb 5000k anything being offered yet.
