LED Driver

Sorry for making new topic. But i found auction and after trying to get some information by myself i gave up. But lets get to my question. I found driver for just 4$ new, with 6 months warranty. It is HLG-120H-42B, Can i make it to good use by DIY Cob or DIY Strip build? Again , im sorry for making another thread :c

Of course it depends. But Can i run for example good old CLU48 1212? Or maybe some LM301B Strips or any other good quality strips with good effect? For now i just need a simple answer to this. And im trying to educate on that matter as we speek. For now i just know it has build in Dimming,120W, 42V intake and 2.9A.

2ft Strips has 450mA,21.9V. So for my non electrician brain i think voltage is okey but what about amps? This one i dont understand :x

It says that driver dims down to 1.4amps, which is more than 3x the current of 450mA, so you would need a combination of parallel and series to make it work. 4 parallel sets of 2 strips each in series should work.

So to make them work and to not burn them of course it should be like 2strip-2strip-2strip-2strip ? Lets dont get into details right now, but in simple way. Maybe a little graphics ||-||-||-|| ? Sorry for more stupid questions, my english is far from the best and i dont know if i understand you right about that parallel and series thing ! Thank you so much for respond and helping with that !

its a 42 volt constant voltage driver with 120 watts of power. best way to use it would be with 42v strips or chips wired in parallel. would power enough to light about a 2'x2' space

so if the strips are 21v then you would wire sets of 2 strips wired in series and then you could hook up as many sets of two as you want/can afford in parallel and they would all split current.
 
My tent is 3x3 so 40wat/sqft is optimum so I was thinking about getting 3 of them to achieve 360wats. Am I correct? It's late in my place so tomorrow I will Google for strips and ask for advice, if any of you experienced led users have something in mind feel free to post and help. Much appreciated

I know it would be easier to follow some Diy guide but I think 4$ for this driver is great deal and money saver that's why I bother you guys. Hope you understand my point :) and ofc sorry for spelling/grammar errors

Hey man, the HLG-120H-42B doesn't have the internal current or voltage adjustment (or like you said built in) like the HLG-120H-42A does. The driver you're looking at has dim+ and dim- wires that you can wire a dimmer (purchased separately from the driver) to for current adjustment.

Edit: Which strips are you looking at 2ft. Samsung Q Series? Personally I would buy
2ft. EB Gen 2 or Gen 3 strips before the Q series strips. Like was discussed before with your proposed strips, you can wire a set of 2 EB strips in series and wire as many of those sets as you choose in parallel. They will be a little less efficient but also less expensive and should be as effective or even more so (the EB strips have a higher diode density than the Q series strips so you'll have more points of light). For what you would have spent on Q series you can get more EB strips and you will have a nice spread of light for the space you choose to light.
