Led deminsion

I'm trying to determine if i want to invest in led or stay with my mh hps setup i have dual 7x7 setup for both veg & flower stage. I'm currently using 600 watt mh veg and 1000 hps in flower want to cut back on power. So what watt led would i need and how many to match or exceed what i got so far?

300W for veg ( so far I like how plants veg under LEDs, really bushy!!) and 700W for flower, I am a new grower, I have both system (LEDs-HIDs) but I invested a lot more time in the HIDs system... So I cant really use this as a comparison. But I don't know that I will be getting rid of my 2 HIDs yet.

when I harvest my 2 400watters mid january, I will use the same room with stricktly LEDs. I won't be home as much and I think that the HIDs are a little more of a fire hazard. So I am looking forward to see how it goes, if I can get similar results then, I will get rid of the HIDs.

Are those the watts i need in led or is that the watts of your current hid setup im lookin at the pro glow 400 but it from my understandin will only leave a 3x3 footprint over the plant

sorry it was confusing ... no those were my recommendation! (my LEDs are smaller panels from different makers, but its just starting so cant really say much about either) I think that you don't need too much wattage in veg with LEDs but in flower I would get at least actual draw 700w LED to replace a 1000W if you don't want to be disappointed. Or better 2x350W panels.

This is a 500 watt system

Each led is 10 lumen; 5000 lumen total, 1000 uv is 40 watts in radiation

I already moved to LEDs from a 400hid system. Personally I think LEDs are half way there like other people said it's amazing and I think better than hid in veg , but in flowering it's not better than hps but it's almost there and I think it will get there in the near future, so unless you are like me and have heat or bill issues I would recommend you wait a bit till we see what's coming.

Edit: forgot to say ,for your setup 2x 400w or 4x 200w would be more than enough but it will cost you allot. For your setup I could even go lower with 2x 300w.

You know there is a lot more to plants than you know. Your cells evolved from plants. Knowing plants is key to knowing where we came from. Hell we have ribosomes in our cells that are made up of proteins that originated or evolved from bacteria. It is hypothesized that ribosomes were bacteria living inside a host cell that became apart of it.

Plants are the most amazing thing on earth; they're so creative when you delve into the micro world of cell biology. They're so smart they adapt to insects and defied gravity. They are the longest living organisms on earth and are responsible for our atmosphere and all the organic fuel deposits all over the world.

I believe you have not done enough research on spectrum and photosynthesis to build an adequate light source for plants. HPS and MH bulbs cover a wide wide spectrum, so does the sun, plants need all types of radiation to possibly produce the right proteins and tannins/flavanoids/akaloids/ect. UV light triggers proteins and cells to produce more THC and SAP and RESIN. What other nm of light triggers certain parts of cell DNA to affect how they grow.... Hmmm? Light hours does, 12 on 12 off, so does the red spectrum. Introduce UV and White light then watch your plants do well UNDER LEDS!

I think I've made my decision to go with 2 pro glow 400 after hours of research has deemed to me to be the best light on the market for the money and amount of space it covers like i said previously i had 2 7x7 rooms one for each stage 49sq ft so 2 will give me 84 sq ft plenty of grow room. see what this does in one room if successful will power both rooms. Thanks for all the info it helped

no matter how much man kind trys to recreate the sun in different light forms it will never be exact replica its undenieable greatest light form for living organisms

Good call man , btw are these you're going for normal LEDs or the new focus lens, and are they 1w or 3w , cause the focus lens ones have good penetration but a smaller cover area.

Edit: my 300 has the focus lens and it is 3w , and the 180 are normal 1w LED , I gotta tell you I'm in love with them focus lens it's soooo bright.

i didn't read anything bout focus lens but i'm pretty sure they are 1 watt here is the website i went to http://hydroponicshut.com/pro-grow-400-led-grow-light-hydroponics-hut.html
