They emit the whitish light as opposed to the purple light from its predecessor and other LEDs.
I made a boo boo. Sorry, they are not COBs, they are 3W Phosphor coated diodes. I assumed COB because of the whitish light they produce. Sorry

how does water cooling a surface mount diode differ from water cooling a chip on board led or any other type of semi-conductor?

I have a question, What is the name of the form factor when mono diodes come with the little tails either side? Can you get these made up with any type of diode? Cree,osram etc. I have a small chinese fixture with a nice PCB that I wish to upgrade with better diodes in this form factor. Any information and or links to fufill my quest will be met with great praise and adulation.

56% @ 1.4A 50ish watts per COB 50w x 30 = 1500w
64% @ 0.7a 23ish watts per COB 23w x 40 =920w

Is it called a heatsink slug?
I don't think you can get any brand made up, it seems like certain brands use certain package methods.
I'm sure bridgelux do some like that. Or at least some of the ones I have are supposed to be bridgelux. Probably change package as you go higher up on the quality and efficiency scale.
You could adapt a lot of chips though I would of thought. Could be wrong Will!!

Ha I wish it were actual knowledge and not just relentless searching online. Took me a while and a fair few search phrases to find that. I may be wrong on the heat slug, it would seem that may just be the tiny bit below the diode in contact with the pcb or heat sink, possibly the correct bit would be the extended lead frame, not sure but still interesting seeing how they have progressed in design.@coreywebster dropping knowledge bombs all over this bitch and with pictures no less. a customer sent me a link on this and I liked the concept, then I saw they were using low cost P2 china leds and was a bit disappointed, It seems to go to this amount of design you should be using top quality diodes and maintain a combo of output/eff without any concern about thermals, Cree or osrams at greater density would work beautifully with these

These are based on the original Power Led the LUX1 from lumileds back in the day, I would not use this form factor in a linear board, this package tech is 12 years old
