LED Companies w/ LINKS

I call that bullshit.
They don't state anything about the LEDs used. That's not a good sign. They're also way overpriced.
Yeah exactly bro, over $1700 for a light that doesn't even say what LED is used! Way to secretive IMO.

If I had an LED company and I was using top bin LED I'd advertise it to show the quality of the lights I'm selling. All this hush hush is suspect..

Can anybody say something good or bad about Seoul Semiconductor cobs?
Seems like they can be competitive to Vero's, CXB's? Also their price is very sweet but the dc voltages on powerful cobs are weird.

Seuol Semi makes some high quality LEDs. I couldn't find them available in small quantities for a reasonable price though. Any links?

e: Same goes for Nichia, Samsung (...)

I found them in my local store.
They do not ship worldwide for sure.
I'm doubt about their efficiency compare to Cree or Vero's.
Seoul Semiconductor CO., LTD.
SDW86F1C (M2G23J) - ZC60, 3300K (=WW), 60W, 7600-8600lm@1100mA@52-56V (t=25С), Max=1,7A, 100W, 125C, 0,4K/W, CRI=80

I'd say 39-40% at 1.1A and Tj = 85°C (57W) which seems very similar to 3000K Vero29 at 2.1A (80W). How much do they cost?

15.8usd/pc - but i'm not sure if the price is correct. Retail.
Wholesale price is cheaper.
Alesh how do you think what driver would be perfect match for example 3-4 of theese?

That seems like a good price.
The downside is that really have a weird forward voltage as you pointed out. Perhaps 700mA version of a 150W MW driver (HLG-120H-C, HVGC-150, LPC-150 or ELG-150-C) for 4 of them?

So, after i finish my cxa2540 diy, i'll try to make Seoul COB build! First ever on RIU?
Thanks to this forum and members like you i forgot about Chinese leds. After i found RIU, my first build was 2*3070CXA, and it grows me buds like never before (chinese fullspectrum junk also works anyway).

lol?
I don't think it's a good idea of using AC cobs for grow plants because of AC frequency. Though i didn't check it.

Several COB companies, i.e. Citizen, Honglitronic, Seoul Semi, Edison Opto, make AC powered COBs so you don't need a driver. Just wire straight to an extension cord. The question is does an AC LED light grow weed since by it's nature it's turning on and off. DC COBs should have an advantage in overall system efficiency so AC COBs IMO probably aren't ideal for growers. But that doesn't mean they don't work.

Edit: Can't forget Edison Opto. Also there are driverless COBs too but they don't don't turn off momentarily like AC COBs do.

Many companies sell direct. Nichia sells direct in N America. Try calling Seoul Semi. If you can get someone to speak English they'll help you. I've talked to some of their saleforce at trade shows. They are very nice if a bit hard to understand :).
I live in a small European country. I'll give their distributor a call in the morning but I don't think they're likely to sell in small quantities. I might be able to get a sample though.

When I'm going PC grow, the PC is getting either Seoul or Nichia and my dedicated growbox will get Crees so in case one of the companies stops with business I know I have an alternative.

Heads up with Nichia cobs. Fragile and didn't take kindly to driving mid to hard. I blew and cracked a few. Idk what prices were, but could have been solid if ultra under driving them is cost effective. closer to a 2530 set up. Vf was higher than desired for perfect driver matches.
That's good to know. I've never used a Nichia COB but I had a few Nichia high-CRI LEDs and they were the best quality white in LEDs I've ever seen. Its efficacy wasn't that good though.

Thanks, good to know.

Yea, the CRI 90 cobs I've seen on leds.de have pretty bad efficiency at 2700k, a shame really.
