LED/ Auto ???

Hey everyone! I have a UFO 150 watt LED (50*3watt) I purchased a while back for a grow attempt and I'll be honest, I've never used LED's before and I don't know a lot about them. I was wondering if anyone could provide any input on a couple questions that I had... How far do you hang the LED above your plant? Does it matter if it's an auto or photo? Does anyone know the coverage area for an LED with the given specs? Thanks again for all your help!

All depending on the quality/wattage of the UFO/LED panel id start around 20'' especially if they are babies. Then lower it once they start getting used to it, you'll know if the LED is too close

[h=1]Proper Distance to Hang Full Spectrum LED Grow Lights[/h]
Keeping the proper distance between your full spectrum LED grow lights and your plants is important to robust photosynthesis and growth. Your LED grow light provides the wavelengths of light your plants need for growth and flowering. G8LED grow lights are formulated to the photosynthetic activation radiation (PAR) wavelengths necessary for plant growth. Plants will reach for the much coveted light source just like they grow towards the sun in outdoor conditions. The general rule of thumb is to increase the distance between the top of the plants’ canopy and the light source as the light becomes more intense. This means that LED grow lights of different power ratings will perform best at different distances.
For plant stretching increase the distance from the the plants to the light. For shorter, bushier plants decrease the distance. As you raise the light, the plants will reach for the source and grow taller. If you keep the light fixed, the plants will grow tall to a certain point, then grow wider and more dense. Putting lights too close to the plants may be too intense and stunt growth and create discoloration. During flowering the lights can be left at a constant distance.

Since LED grow lights emit 90% less heat than traditional HID lighting such as high pressure sodium or metal halide bulbs, your plants will not dry out or burn if you happen to place your LED grow light to close to your plants. However, your plants’ growth will be stunted if the light is hanging too low. Within a week you will notice that your plants are not experiencing robust growth and the leaves may become discolored. If you do experience this result, adjust by increasing the distance between your light and the plants. Follow the recommended hanging distances and your plants will thrive in your grow room. Thanks Jeffdogg! You the man! My girls are at give/take 6 weeks and I was going to see if I could squeeze a couple under the LED for an experiment. I hear that the LED makes a big difference, so I'm itching to give it a try. I'm hoping they still have another month-month and a half in flowering?

12"+ 12 inches is as close as it should be to 24 inches. I keep mine between 12" and 16" or so just depending. I would say start at 15" and go up or down from there probably down with 3watt drivers

a have a 200 watt solar flare from california light works and I'm impressed so far. Its actual draw is 160watts or so between 2 drivers (misspoke above I meant 3watt chips) with 5watt chip sets so it will have better light penetration than the 3watt or 1watters but it was expensive.....tho you get what you pay for with leds and I wanted a quality usa made light

thats in my flowering tent I have a cabinet with cree 9 watter bulbs and a cheap flood lamp style led for veg and also a micro cab full a cree bulbs

I keep my LED "units" 10-12 inches from the plant tops, but I also use cree household LEDs for side lighting and I treat them like cfls.

If my LED gets too close I start getting brown rust spots on my plant. CalMag doesn't change a thing either. I keep mine about 2 feet away.
