LEC 315's

Hey guys what's up! I'm planning on doing a new grow soon and I'm going to go with a single LEC 315's for the lighting in a 4x4 Gorilla Tent.

I'll probably run 7 plants in the tent in soil.

I know they say the footprint is for the LEC is 3x3. So would it make sense to go with 2 LEC's in my hut or go with the 1 amd add some supplemental led lighting in the corners?

Thanks for the help!

Both ways sound good..

If it was me,I'd go lec, with some LED's (cobs) or whatever. .

My only concern with putting two LEC's in the hut is that it may be a bit of overkill.

And I don't want to add the additional LEC just to make me feel better about it than my plants actually do.

Thank G!

I'm running one in my 3x3 that is oversized at 39" deep x 39" wide x 79" tall. I just chopped my first girl under it. I prefer bigger plants less count. If I had a bigger tent I would want more light for sure. It is a fantastic lights though. for a 4x4, I would be very tempted to hang two of them bare and see how it goes just make sure airflow is good and mount the ballasts outside the tent. My Sun Systems with the built in ballast in no hotter than the 4 COB LED I use to have in my 2x4 in the same room. I have a small fan blowing across the ballast. This has been my favorite light to use so far (new grower) and it prompted me to grab a 600w MH for a new project in the same space.

Nonsense. Two would be awesome. I run 1.4k hps vert in my 4x4
Props to you, that's gnar gnar. Are they in a cool tube? Vented?

LEC 315s are open fixtures with no ventilation. Two of them in a confined space, like a 4x4 tent, throws off a surprising amount of heat.

Obviously if you have your cooling in check to cool the btus you're pumping into the room, then bunch em together and raise em high... but that's not the situation here.

Rather than adding another 315 to a tent, I'd add some more efficient leds. That's my two cents.

I have a 1 315 in a 4x4 veg and it's plenty of light.

I have a portable a/c in the hut now so the heat wont be a problem with two 315's in there. I have read that the led was probably a good option also but I'm concerned about the yield though. I've read that with the led's you get crazy tricome production but not as much yield. Enlighten me on your thoughts.

Nope, no cool tubes. They are hung stacked vert. With vertical growing heat is not so much of a problem.

Then in my other tent I have a 600w mh horizontal. Now I have that in a cooltube

One 315w CMH, or a 400w HPS for that matter, is not enough flowering light for 4x4. That's 16 square feet. 315 and 400w are 20 watts per sq foot and 25 w/sqf. Not enough. You want to aim for at least 40w per square foot for flowering.

that means a 600w HPS or dual 315's is perfect for a 4X4. I've run both in my DR120, a 6" Fantech centrifugal fan is more than enough to keep the temp with 1-2 degrees of ambient inside the tent. I must say I found it much easier to run the single 600w fixture than juggling the two 315's with separate bulbs, reflectors and ballasts. The 600w lit farther down into the canopy too.

If heat is a non issue, 2 315's in flower would not be "too much" light. I would just opt to add the extra wattage needed for flower in COB LEDs instead of another LEC.

Not claiming to be qualified to enlighten anyone, sorry if I came off that way.

In flower I run 2 315's on a mover in a 4'x8'... That room could use another LEC, but I'll be looking to add the watts in LEDs instead... for efficiency, and controllability.

Well after 3 months of have my Sun 315 Lec I finally got it up and going. My first indoor grow in 20 years. That was a garage in 100 degree heat with no exhaust etc lol. 3x4 space way over crowded 12 plants from 1 week to 2 weeks. Two autos I pulled from outside that were in flower 17 days and 12. 8 autos and 4 Pakistan valley girls. Lol. Will post couple of pics when get on other puter

Two flower autos have red/orange specs on leaves think it's calcium and mag issues.

Ideally the lec 315's foot print is 3x3..... I have ran mine in a 4x4 by itself with 4 plants and yielded 12oz off of 4 plants. with bigger tighter buds then under my hps. (that may be because i ran 6 plants under the 1k. It would be awesome to mount 2x 315's in a 4x4 but it is unnecessary in my situation. in the same tent with a air cooled 1000w i was able to yield just over 1lb. Im pretty happy with getting 2/3rd the yield with 1/3 of the watts.

i would stick to 4 plants per lec if your growing in a tent 7 seems like alot. Also get yourself over to the club 315 lec.

I have 2 D-Papillons in my 120x90cm (4x3) tent and sometimes I feel like I'm getting too much shadowing on the edges, maybe the reflectors aren't good. I can't even fit more than 4 plants in my tent so my yields are pretty bad for the amount of light I have, but any less light and the quality goes way down.
