Leaves look like leather

Did a water change yesterday they only took about four gallons of water last night. I have had no new growth for a week. Been thinking about this. I do have a green bulb the cfl type, I had left it a few times. I was told that the plants dont recognize the green bulb but I think that they do as a couple of times I left it on the plant closest to it, it looked like the fan leaves were reaching for it. Not like the other plants that the leaves droop when the lights go out and perk back up again when the lights come on.

Anyways does anybody think that they went into a veg state from the bulb being left on and I frakked up the flower cycle. If so what is the damage? What can I do now?

Whats your pH? It COULD be Mg lock out, but I'm betting it's deficient. Check the pH and correct that first. If it's OK, then give them some epsom salts or Cal/Mag before they end up like this. You got a few days yet. It took this one about three weeks to a month to get this way. It started out exactly like that. This happened to me 2 other times before this before I figured out it was an MG deficiency. There is no fixing the dead tissue, but tey will generate new growth.

The ph is good always check it and keep it around the 5.8, it creeps up to 6.0 - 6.2 and I ph it back down.

What will epsom salts do? Is that a substitute for the magnesium - a source of? I dont know? I know I can get epsom salts at he local store is there anything else I can get today to help these get back on track? My indoor gardening center is closed for the next two days

I just cut these off. I had to look around for some good samples I suppose most of the leaves look good but I was using a flashlight to find them. These came from three different plants. I think the small one the brown burnt area is from a long time ago as it is crunchy. The other two are nice and fresh.

This caused by a mag deficiency???????

I can't definitively speak on anything Hydro, but in soil, my experience tells me that the pH has gotta drift a whole point or so before you start seeing real probs. This chart might help. I know that to me that looks for all the world to be Mg deficient. It took me 2 grows to figure this out, because I ran to the forums in a panic, got 7 or 8 different diagnoses, and tried 7 or 8 different "remedies", thereby screwing myself royally. The second grow I fed way on the lean side, so I KNEW it wasn't burn, the pH was fine, so I started listening to the couple of people who had all along told me Mg. I started Cal/Mag and started seeing new growth. WOW! The third go round, I fed Cal/Mag every couple waterings after I flipped them, and had the first grow come off without a hitch. For some reason, MJ seems to like Cal/Mag when flowering. I'm sure it's strain related, but for me, that was the cure. I've never seen it since. I also stopped watering with distilled/RO water.

its heat stress. but extra nutes could help this show up easier. but yeah heat stress, get the temps down, get a fan and point it at the top area of your plant. make sure you lights are 18" away.

in the pics above, the singed tips is K deficiency. and the dieing and yellowing in the middle of the leaf is P deficiency.

heat stress for sure on the very 1st pics you posted. the bent leaves and the wrinkling, i bet they kinda curled up a little too before wilting.

I do have fans going - four of them. I am about to give up so close but whatever going back to the basics and let it ride I guess. I think it has to do with a few different things starting with root rot then a nutrient deficiency of some sort. It isnt magnesium because I over dosed that and had to do a flush and drain my barrel so I have that crap to deal with now. I think they will survive Going to focus on the next set and just let these run its course. Its to bad they looked sweet but it is my first grow so I guess I need to take the good with the bad.

Bernie it seems you either have issues with the heat or nut def.
Also it can be that when flowering, the fan leaves usually gives all its energy in creating buds..
That's my 2 cents

Thanks for the post. I have had no new growth for over a week. The heat issue has all but gotten under control as it is cooler here at night when I run my lights. I still dont have that killer smell when I open the door that I used to have. I use the house and garden line and am going to start flower week nine this weekend and let it go if they snap out of it then good if not then on to the next one I guess. This has all been a learning experience and the next set should turn out the way I want it.

All I know is when my new clones are ready to go in these things are coming out no matter what.

Timers are good no light leaks. I have left my green bulb on before a couple of times maybe when this started I cant remember if that may have caused this or not. I posted about that already in this thread.

IF they are re-veggin why am I not getting any growth is that what they do. Is that why the killer smell when you open the door is gone.

They only took a couple of gallons of water last night.

The good news is my new set smell killer and are growing- well like a weed.

looks like they are re-veggin

I have seen this caused from 2 different things, 1. Topping too early in flowering stage 2. light leaks or 12 dark period is interrupted. Green lights are great for going into dark rooms but I wouldn't recommend leaving them on for long periods of time

Yeah I have had problems from day one with these. To be honest I cant believe they made it this far. So close to. Just going to ride it out I guess not much more I can do.

Do you think since the smell went away that they went back to veg stage because I left the green light on?
