leaves look kinda oily, shiny

just curious if this is something i should be worried about, the plant is overly green and abundant just know the ends of the extremely green leaves kinda twirl a little but it looks like there is almost an oily type look to them.. they look good just want to make sure it's not something i should worry about.

DEEP DEEP green color usually indicates a very high level of nitrogen.

You are growing Hydro (at least most of them look to be hydro).... Make sure you have your PH and PPM dialed in to the correct levels. ALSO.... it appears those buckets are on carpet so where is the water draining? If you are not allowing for drainage then you are going to have problems..... you may very well be seeing the beginning of them.

I'm growing hydro hempy method and every Sunday I flush my plants with just RO water to make sure the salts are not building up.

Good luck :D

Hi all,
Nice I think he has a double bucket system with a controller setup. The hose attached allows for gravitational or passive drainage. I find that I always have about an inch or two of residual water that just sits there but I gets it's okay since it gets mixed into the new feed on 15 minute intervals. Can you tell us your TDS levels and pH are on average? I agree with FL in that it might be the beginning of something to come. What strain is it? Almost black in color. What it the humidity in the room? Are you foliar feeding and what are you foliar feeding with?

Good Luck and Good Growing.

you can find my grow journal in my signature. i am growing Afghani Bombay Kush, those are the ones showing the darker color. and yes i am using the reservoir double bucket system w drainage and like u said water probably does sit in the bottom but always is adjusted.

yesterday the room temp was 72degrees, the water temp 72degrees. ph stays steady at about 5.9 i find when able to keep the water temp down. the ppm during the entire grow has been between 700-900.. it did get up the other day due to me not accounting for superthrive but i quickly flushed so prolly only got one or two water cycles thru, showed minor signs of nute burn but got it real quick.

otherwise they've been very dark in color most of the grow, i do have 2 grand daddy purple clones in a couple buckets and they do not have the same very green color so i was just figuring it was the strain but never hurt to just make sure its not lacking or getting too much of something.

anyway, for now im going to assume its normal.. this afghani bombay kush is a strain my buddy bred and his from vague memory looked very green so maybe its common.

All in all it sounds like you are in control - DAYUM!!! GDP-I couldn't find that strain even if I were in cahoots with Arjan himself. That's definitely clone worthy my friend!

I normally hit my plants with 1900 by end of veg so your numbers are cool. Res should always be cooler than ambient settings so check that out.. Other than that - I'll give you a quick tip for flowering on that specific e&F system. FLUSH WEEKLY! Only when you flower okay - You'll be able to really hit them hard and I mean HARD. Then flush for 48 hours changing the water after 24. This way when you feed them as scheduled - THEY WANT IT BAD and really make use of it. This way you'll end up with 6oz's+ per ebb bucket. So every week will look like this (5on/2off) You'll never have an imbalance! I wouldn't do this if your nutes are pricey like mine were when I used AN. But ever since I switched to the Lucas formula, I've never been happier. Plue GH nutes are cheap per the gallon and all you need is Micro and Bloom since Micro has more than enough N for ya. If it's one thing I learned after years og cultivating is that LIGHTS are key. Good Lights! I got this tip from Krusty Freedom who averages about 3lbs per plant - per bucket but then again he used 5kW at a time. Nonetheless I've never had heavier girls.

Only feed that hard if you're using a kW if you use anything less like a 400 to a 600 then you should not surpass the 1300 mark maybe 1400 at most but with CAUTION!!!

Good Luck and Good Growing.

PS. Don't forget to keep that res oxygenated and the bigger it is - the cooler it stays if ya don't wanna chiller...

thanks man, yea i have been flushing every 2 weeks so far.. actually ive prolly flushed 3x now in 4 weeks due to the 1100ppm mix causing some stress/nute burn so im keeping it between 700-1000 since they're showing the most signs of growth right now.

as for the grand daddy purple clones, definately have access to more but the afghani bombay kush which i have the most of looked a lot better when i picked them up so they gave me more of their own strain they bred rather than the GDP but still grabbed a cpl so could see how they turn out.

anyway i have a 1000w HPS and a 400w HL.. have a new bulb to go in once i switch the light cycle. and i just bought a ton of nutes from this hydro store going out of business so i got enough nutes for a bunch more grows for under $200 so stoked on that. everything seems to be running well thanks for the tips, definately want some nice yield so you're saying 5days w nutes, 2 without every week?

I love going out of business sales .. Very sweet.. Also nice lighting selection.. Personally I love flowering with a kW because thats where you really see your plants potential. Yea man 5on 2off. On every 5th day - just as soon as the lights go off change to clean pH'ed water then replace the water after 24hrs with another batch of clean pH'ed water. Note your TDS levels and you'll see it rise gradually but thats because of residual nutes in medium. Then just before lights on for the new (day one) just callibrate a new batch accordingly. Kinda defeats the purpose of an easy ebb system because it's extra work but you"ll like the reward. but this is in flowering only because high toxicity levels throw your girls off. You only have a 60 day window for her performance you know. During veg I flush a couple of times at most because they're pretty rigid and tough in this stage but flowering is where all your green-thumb skills need to be placed. You'll love it!

Good Luck and Good Growing
