I guess this video I watched got me to thinking what a dumbass I really am. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-SD5-xfbcJI It is a long ass video but I found it informative even though the video cuts out sometimes, It got me thinking, who is a dumbass and what kind of things do you consider stupid? Is there something you can show me that would blow my mind or teach me something cool, or new or interesting that I SHOULD know? I'm open to anything really thought provoking or informative, videos or books. Whatever you got that's really cool. I started I'm sure I can show some other worthy stuff. Discuss.

Well that's the mental attitude of a person with capacity for great intelligence; a hunger/thirst for knowledge and understanding.

Hmm, there are so many interesting things in the world. I know some random facts. Neer Neer and Crypty are full of interesting observations and information.

Maybe break it down into categories and you can say 'someone tell me about:'

Language/literature

Visual art

Performing arts:

Animal kingdom

Plant kingdom

Manufacturing/industry

Trade/finance

Meteorology/weather

Geography


And so on... There is so much 'stuff' in the world... Z
Where to start...

That's the thing, there is so much to know. Some people might be very knowledgeable about something in particular and not about other things. I figured there's enough people that would know different things that they could bring to the discussion. I am interested in anything that I may not know, IDK exactly what that is yet, because I'm naiive. Look I can't even spell that word FFS. Right now I have been watching how the universe works on netflix. I'm starting to understand concepts of black holes and how stars and planets form. I would like to know more about all the stuff they talk about on the Big Bang Theory, I love that TV show.

I remember watching a program recently that mentioned giraffes have only 7 vertebrae. It's kind of hard to believe. Also, that they use their necks to fight, which is dangerous because it could break.

Ooh, you should watch Bang Goes the Theory, being factual. Brainiac: Science Abuse... If I only had the discovery channel, I'd be happy.

I know alot about animals.

Neer Neer is a chemist.

Crypty knows alot about the Internet, hallucinogenics and literature

I think a few engineer types assisted WinterWoman in her thread..

Errm.. The thing is you don't want to give random facts and appear condescending. I come out with things sometimes and people look at me funny or act like I was deliberately trying to show them up. ('shut the fuck up, Wikipedia') What is or should be common knowledge? I know I lack common sense >_>

But what interests you in particular? or this this systematic acquisition of knowledge thing not working at all..

I found some of those videos on youtube, I will check them out. I guess I could see how people would get offended by others thinking they wouldn't already know something. I am asking for any information on multiple subjects scientific or even spiritual. I have always been interested in history, especially ancient history. I wonder how they built structures out of stones and how they learned to write and communicate. I like watching Ancient Aliens, if only for a good laugh. They don't give people any credit for designing or developing anything. I personally believe that people in ancient cultures were actually very smart, or at least some of them were and guarded secret knowledge. Here's the kind of thing I am talking about that boggles the mind. It's about an hour long video and some may find it boring, but I think it helps explain how ancient people did what they did and how intelligent they must have been. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1gb0Bi8eqAA.
