Leaf curling

I read somplace, not sure if it was here or not. What causes leafs to roll upwards from the edges? I searched here and found too many posts about curling down.

Here's the low down.

Bag seed. Germinated 4 weeks ago. Plants are 3 weeks old. I have been keeping tabs this time so I'm somewhat on the ball. Not a super grower but getting better.

These numbers are from pure zero tds water. Not a drop of junk in it. It's a homemade drip recirculating system.

PH 6.2 to 6.3

Chems are General Hydroponics flora
FloraGro 30 ml (3 gals in res so 10 ml per gal)
FloraMicro 15 ml
Flora Bloom 15ml

Lights CFL Helical 26W 6500K 24 hours on.
1 each plant. I know I know. I will be increasing the lighting in the morning. I had not had time to get more. Life issues.

The water is changed and res cleaned every Sunday. Two sundays ago, the chems added where about 1/2 for the seedlings. These numbers are from mix this past Sunday. There has been amazing growth over the last 48 hours. Can I get some advice on fixing the curling. Thanks :)

What is the ppm of your mix? I'm at the same stage as you, and I'm having the same problem. Nothing serious, just annoying because the other plants in the grow are fine. From my reading, I think my problem is heat. I have been slowly raising the light, increasing RH, and keeping tent temps in the 70's. I'll let you know if it helps.

Good luck.

According to the calculator at GH
GENERAL HYDROPONICS

Should be 1010 being this is my 2nd feeding. But with that said, when I checked with my tds meter I was around 890. I was going to play around with it to try an get it higher, but the only way to do that with pure water is to add more chem. I did not want to do that as my measurements we/are spot on. Then I read this disclaimer on the botttom of the page

"Notes: Do not premix nutrients - add to water only. Nutrient Solution readings are only an approximation in pure water and yours will vary depending on the quality of your water."

So I figured close enough, let me see how it goes. It's going just fine other then the curling. But after looking today the curling is on old growth and being the plant will lose water out it's leafs. I'm going to watch very closely today to see if it get's worse. If it stays on the old growth I'm just going to ignore it. As long as the new growth looks nice, green and healthy then it's good to go.
I'll tell you, I which I would have done this back in Feb. I would have had 3 harvests by now.

I'm using the same calculator for my nutes. I have hard water, so I am using the the Micro HW and the corresponding calculations. My TDS meter has been reading EC 1.9 / 950 ppm at a 5.8pH. How many days did it take for your ppm to drop from 1010 to 890? It took 5 days for my res to drop from 950 to 900 ppm. Could res size have anything to do with that? Mine is a 10 gallon, and I think yours is a 3 gallon. Number of plants?

Now that you mention it, the curling on my plant was on the older leaves with nothing on the newer growth. I think I'll follow your lead and not worry about it any more...

Do you have a grow log?

My tds did not drop at all. I was never able to get it to the 1010 level. I do not have hardwater and I'm not using water from the tap directly. I own a commercial grade RO/DI (reverse osmosis/dionized water) system so my tds starts out at zero. Once I have the water, I add my chems and that brings up my tds. As far as my ph is concerned I test after I ad the chems and that adjust to bring it up or down. Bringing my ph up or down only takes a few minutes. In fact it should go up or down once you ad, whatever you ad to adjust it. For me, once that is completed the water goes in the res. I water 2 times per day on a drip system for once hour each watering. I have the drip system set up to drip just about 1 drop per second for each plant. I am only growing two at this time. My res is 5 gal but I only use 3 gallons. Reason being, I am chaging out my water every week. My plants do not go through 5 gallons. In fact I'm lucky if they use 1 gallon. The reason I am watering for 1 hour is my timer will not work correctly on a shorter time. If I set it shorter, IE maybe 15 or 30 minutes, it never shuts off. So I set it for one hour two times per day. If I could get it to shut off I would water 4 times per day at 15 minutes each. I do not have a grow log. I am not the type of guy who would commit to something like that an I would not want to keep everyone hanging. I do have a log of my own, on my computer with pics, but like I said I don't want to start a log cause I dont know if I would commit to keeping it up.
