Leaf Clone

I asked right at the beginning. I'm not going to give up just yet. I have a slightly different one rooted, a stem with a leaf hanging off it, in between leaf and stem is a tiny pre-bud. It has rooted, and I'm considering throwing it straight into flower and see what happens. I'll post a pic' some time today.

as i've thought about it for the past month..... that sounds like a much better plan. i think if you leave some kind of intersecting leaf/ branch then it gives it a location to start new growth. keep playing out of that box.:peace: :joint: :joint:

whaoh! it hella! rooted. did it root out any kind of little hard stumps roots towards the top. my clones get gnarly stump like roots just at the surface of the plug. they are fully rooted just the top roots are really thick. could one of these be manipulated into being a stalk?

Skunk.. WOW.. nice root growth..

Please tell us WHAT caused (what factors/insight) you to abandon this clone?

cheers

funny, i was thinking but trying the same stunt, but befor doing so, i asked a guy at a gardening center. he told me the it commen for them to clon from leaves if they try on plants hard to clone...
so the guy didn't bullshited me:-) *YES*

It simply had no upward growth. Other clones in at the same time are vegging nicely.

It had a little upward growth but only at the leaf stem. I think it would have produced something eventually, but the time scale makes it an unworkable option. Often, small shoots will appear on plants where you don't expect them. For example, after topping my plants, at the intersection where the main branches meet you could well get a new shoot appear half way through flower. Also new shoots will just pop out of the stem. This is what leads me to the theory that a leaf clone should produce a new shoot eventually. I have another leaf, and a slightly different one that is hanging off a branch. I'm doing it again as the last leaf didn't get the easiest of times.

I was just thinking of this myself the other day, don't think im going to try it though, i plan on cloning some from my purple haze/northern lights plant but that will be all clones from the chutes

try this...Another technique sometimes used is to take older, larger leaves and cut them into triangles, making sure each piece contains a large vein. The edges of the leaf, which usually contains no veins, should be thrown away. The triangles are then planted in the medium with the pointy side down. A new plant can then develop from the vein.
Be aware, however, that leaf cutting is very delicate, and only works with plants that are easily cloned

u should try cutting the main veins on the leaf to see if new growth will develop there..obviously we can see the leaf rooted but maybe having exit places to grow upward will be the key..thats atleast how other plant leaves are cloned..

come on if this was feasable dont you all think it would be mainstream
idk whether it is for weed but it certainly is possible and been around for along time with cloning other plants..u can see the extensive root growth it had so it mayb possible..just gota try..

I"ll give it a whirl one of these days.
But I think *a* reason why its not mainstream is like revegging a plant. Not a good use of time and resources. It can be done, but takes considerably longer, so whats the point?
