~Laserbrn's White Russian 2011"

Last year was a rough one. I really got burned by questionable genetics and ended up with a lot of hermies. Plants were good, buds were good, hermies were annoying. So this year I went with regular seeds from a more well known, stable strain.

So I started 10 White Russian (White Widow x AK-47) from Ceres seeds.

I started the seeds in Fox Farms Happy Frog in Solo Cups and transplanted into Fox Farms Ocean Forest Soil.

I am using the Fox Farms Trio and following the feeding schedule available online. I have currently fed twice @ 1/4 strength and the plants seem fairly happy. I will increase the feeding over the next few weeks slowly and see how they respond.

The current light for flowering is a 600w HPS with Lumatek ballast and a Sun Systems XL hood. The veg cycle was started and completed with a T5HO 400w(ish) 6 lamp fixture.

A few plants have shown sex and while I'm not yet ready to kill the suspected male, I don't think it will be long for confirmation. I think I'm in denial on him, haha. Right now the numbers are:

4 - Female
1 - Male
5 - Unknown

At the size they are I would really like to get 6 females, but even 5 would be okay. I think the #'s are on my side, but I'm always pessimistic during this part. I figure worst case scenario I'll switch to a 400w if it turns out only 4 females in the end and I'll switch to 1000w if it ends up 8 or something silly. I have various lamps and ballast options available as I've accumulated so much stuff over the years in different setups.

I take pictures and post on fridays and I like to refer to it as Photo Op Fridays and I think the ladies get pretty excited to show off for everyone. These are the Fridays from the veg period and I'll continue on from here and post pictuers every friday. Friday was basically the first day of 12/12 so we're working through our first week of flower!

I consider this the 2011 batch because if it's awesome I'll put it on repeat and probably run it all season and this first batch won't be done until sometime in January.

Thanks. Hopefully it'll be great fun along the way. Just looking for females this week, that's the theme anyway! Oh and I'll probably run with a final bug bomb to try kill of any remaining little nasty's running around.

Thanks, I'm glad to be back. I'm sorry the strain isn't as "exotic" this time, but I needed something solid and so far it looks like I have gotten what I was looking for.

Today is Photo Op Friday so I just snapped a few pictures. So far I've only fed twice with the 1/4 strength Fox Farms nutes. This week I'll bump that up a little bit and feed twice this week during their normal watering cycles.

Here's some pics of the progress:

I'm not topping any of them on this go around. I'm growin' them straight up. So far it's 5 females and only 1 undecided (likely male). I did have one full on hermie which I think is odd for such a stable strain. But it definitely came out distinctly with balls and female flowers. I just double checked my tent and it's sealed up tight. It's even sitting in a room that's black during the 12 hours of lights off. No LED's inside the tent and nothing that should cause any abnormalities. So far things are looking pretty good, I fed with a little bit stronger than 1/4 strength nutes as the males seemed to be the ones that went a little lighter and were looking hungry, the remaining females all look to be in really good shape, so at least we've got that. I only started 10 beans so if I end up with 5 solid females I'll take it.

I'll take some pics tonight and post them up. With only 4 girls it hasn't been super exciting, but they are just over 5 weeks into flowering now and still look happy and healthy. I know for next time to start with a lot more seeds and make sure to have about 8-10 girls.

Sub'd.

I have 6 White Russians at 7 1/2 weeks right now. It's a pretty amazing strain. After your FI grow, I think you'll be very happy!

I am very happy with this strain. Didn't start going yellow until this final week. Very easy to grow, very good yielder, very happy with it overall. This is basically going to be the beginning of the journal. I ordered more beans and I'll start abotu 25 of them next time to make sure we get a lot more females and fill this tent. I'm very optimistic about this years grow now as these 4 plants although small in numbers show a lot of promise for a tent full! These are 8 weeks in and look like they might have 5-10 more days before they get chopped down.

Stay subbed, the next round is going to be a lot more exciting.
