labeling?

Wondering what tricks you all use to keep one strain differentiated from another? Indoor seems to be easier to do this...but what method do you all use in the great outdoors?

They make a soft metal band that you can write on that indents the writing on the band, Attaches to plant. Tried the Sharpy on plastic but sun can fade this quick and at end of year sometimes you can barely read them.

If you plant them, you should know what they are. But a rubber label like they use for trees also works. I dont understand how you would not be able to remember what the hell you planted. You are the one who did it.

I use red plastic party cups quite often as starter pots with holes in the bottom. They are actually a few brands of party cups that have a scratch tab on it, so you can write stuff on it, it makes it very easy to label different plants. Once they are outdoors, plant different strains in different areas so you will know.

Hey *Buds... does the permanent marker make it through a season? Sharpie barely makes it through indoor.

I also find it hard to believe that no one is trying a new strain or multiple new strains which may make it harder to differentiate at some point or that no one may want multiple strains in one spot so that strain is the only variable to compare quality or quantity. Not saying that some strains may not stick out like a sore thumb.

I'm a new grower and the only one I can tell apart from the others is the Pineapple Skunk. I have to label. I use white duct tape on the pots with a black permanent marker.
I also keep a hand drawn diagram when I plant them.

I use something like this
http://www.gemplers.com/product/K443/Metal-Plant-Markers-10-Double-Prong-Copper-Pack-of-10?gclid=COv-jsXTyLYCFYiDQgod2m0Aew&sku=K443&CID=25SEPLA&ci_src=17588969&ci_sku=K443&ef_id=USgJWwAAAC4A1yj@20130413220544s

Except they are just the tag part with a wire going through it so you can twist it onto a branch. I got them in a hundred pack or something like that a long time ago in a warehouse store for cheap. I wish I could give you any details about the ones I use, but it doesn't come up when I search for it. They were called "Identitags," and I believe it was hyphenated, like I-dent-itags, or I-dentitags, something like that.

EDIT:

Bam! There you go, same thing different name!

Box of 100 right there, pretty damn cheap

ya, Ive seen people simply use Popsicle sticks and write in permanent marker on them, and stick them in the soil.
