LA Woman (first grow)

Hello,

Well my my. This grow certainly has changed a lot, hasn't it? From a single plant behind my desk under a 43 watt CFL, to six plants, five from clones, under a 1000 watt HPS in my closet. I am going to expand this space very soon (after the weekend, probably). It will no longer be *just* my closet, it will be the part in my closet as well as a space almost twice as big in my room. I am going to begin growing everbearing strawberries in addition to my 6 plants. I heard 12/12 is a good light cycle for strawberries so I'll probably begin growing them when I start to flower. (1-2 more weeks... gotta do it soon or this PHK Haze is gunna be too big.)

I transplanted L.A. Woman and three of the clones (Grape Ape, Purple Head Knockin Haze, and White Widow) to smart pots. I also transplanted the Kali Kush to a larger pot. I got a new clone, and it is PPP (Pure Power Plant.) The problem is, it was almost dead when I got it. It was the *last* PPP clone they had, and I was getting it for free anyway, so I figured I'd take it and see if I could revive her. If anything else, I'll save a plant, because she would have died at the dispensary in that cold back room.

When I transplanted, I somehow managed to tear LA Woman's roots again. She is a little wilted today as a result. I have been waiting too long to transplant her and her roots begin circling and then they tear when I transplant. Luckily, this 5-gallon smart pot is her permanent home.

OH YEAAH!.... L.A. Woman has *at least* 12 colas that I can count. Her undergrowth is massive.

So after all that, here's some pics.

Grow space...

LA Woman (bit wilted... :()

Grape Ape is HAPPY

Purple Head Knockin' Haze is TALL!

And that is all... comments?

lovin the pics :leaf:
Thanks man! I am glad to know someone appreciates them (besides me...this is my grow record :))

I have lost track of the number of days I've had each of the clones, but it doesn't really matter. When I flower I will keep better track.

The PHK Haze has now outgrown every other plant by a mile. She will be seen invading most pictures of other plants!! I *have* to flower soon. She is already too tall and she is the only clone I have that is supposed to take 120 days (4 months!) to flower. As it is, I will probably have to do some kind of training with her during flower or she will be too tall.

The others will all finish in around 60 days from what I understand.

I can't flower until I can get some more reflective material and close off the rest of my grow space to light leaks... hopefully soon though.

On to the plants!

Check out L.A. Woman now! :D

Grape Ape is like a bush... her leaves are super super layered and thick.

PHK Haze, invading all the other plants' light.

And for some reason this White Widow clone is not growing very well. Her leaves were yellowing so I fed her, but she hasn't really changed in color much. Any ideas?

And finally here is an overall shot of the grow room.

Oh, I don't know if I mentioned but I am now running an 18/6 light schedule instead, to save on power and cool the room off at night a bit.

Ever since i burned the LA Woman with the FoxFarm nutes so badly, I've been using the BC Grow system instead. It seems to be working much better for me.

I'm super tired, here's a few pics.

LA Woman is almost as tall as that PHK Haze now.

And here she is again, different angle.

Here's that PHK Haze.

Here is the Grape Ape which is bushing up even more nicely and the PPP clone that I recently transplanted which is still trying to make it.

OK and the whole room now looks kinda like this. The Kali Kush is growing quickly which is super but the WW and PPP are still struggling.

I need to start flowering soon, but I am sooooo busy lately with classes that I don't have any free time to mess with my grow space. So construction is coming along slowly...

LA Woman is so big! I don't think she would have so many colas on the sides and stuff if I hadn't fimmed her very early on. What do you think?

She is gonna be thick with bud. I love them like that. The Grape Ape is wild looking too.

Those struggling don't look too good. Root rot maybe.

Say how are those Smart Pots working out?

I believe there is a reason for the struggling ones. I ran out of organic potting soil, so I went and bought this EarthGro stuff that said it was organic. But it was really sandy. I planted the Kali Kush, White Widow, and Pure Power Plant in this "Earth Gro" soil. The Kali Kush actually looks ok... and the White Widow and Pure Power Plant were both kinda yellow at one point in time, but they both have greened up and are growing.

Do you think it's the sandy soil? I just didn't have money for anything else... Also, remember I got the WW, Kali Kush, and Pure Power all a lot later than than Grape Ape and PHK Haze, which have had more time to grow.

Here's some pics!

First of all, I wanted to show you what I did with the White Widow. She was almost all yellow and I was scared she would die. The soil she was planted in was too sandy for her, I think. So, I used a metal hook and tied her top down (LST.) I figured this might allow her to root more in the top soil, which is still the organic soil. I then fimmed 4 of her tops and you can now see all the different colas growing. I don't know if my technique worked, but she is FAR healthier now than she was a week ago.

Oh yeah, and that nute-burned leaf you see on the L.A. Woman? That's how I learned not to let the nutes hit the leaves and then dry like that, because the 1000-watt light WILL burn the nutes INTO the leaves, whereas the roots are craving them.

Next, this is the Kali Kush. She seems happy.

Here is a from-the-top view of Grape Ape (left) and LA Woman (right) and White Widow in the background.

This is a view of the whole area, with Purple Head Knockin' Haze in the front. She is clearly the biggest because of her sativa structure. My friends at the dispensary have been encouraging me to prune and clip her, but I haven't wanted to, because I can still expand the space.... what do you guys think?

Anyway, the Smart Pots seem to be the best investment I've made for my garden. I would really recommend them. The LA Woman, Grape Ape, and PHK Haze all already have roots sticking out of the sides at the bottom. The air prunes them and the little ends just fall off. I can tell the plants are way happier and growing faster than when they were in the regular pots.

As the title says.

I'm annoyed because I have so much homework that I don't have time to properly set up my space so that all light leaks are closed off. So I haven't flipped my lights from 18/6 and so the plants are vegging, vegging, vegging. They are occasionally exposed to light at night because I have so much HW that I've been staying up super-late. After I flip the lights, my room is going to be off-limits as a homework location past 6:30pm, so I'll have to work upstairs or something. I'm thinking of making my 12/12 from 6:30am till 6:30 pm to minimize light leaks through the window. I don't want to board up my window or make it obvious. I'd love to finish fixing my grow space tonight, but I have to write a 6-page paper first, in addition to the presentation I have tomorrow in one of my classes... damn, I need to graduate so I can grow weed full-time.

The PHK Haze is now over two feet tall and extends over a foot outside of the planter in every direction. It's going to outgrow the whole space if I keep vegging it. I've read that most people flower sativa-dominant strains when they are 6" tall or less. I'm going to have a monster! What am I going to do?

Ok... so here's LA Woman, which is almost as tall as the PHK Haze, despite the fact that I topped her two days ago in order to take a clone from her.

And here's one more picture of the Grape Ape in the foreground, with Pure Power and Kali Kush in the background. I did some "LST" on the Grape Ape by simply bending the colas out from the center, therefore causing her to bush up even more where the light wasn't penetrating.

I can't believe that Pure Power survived. My friend at the dispensary said the same thing. When I "adopted" it, it was 90% yellow and virtually dead. That's why it's still so small... but I saved it! Weed has a huge desire to live. Thus, I hope my LA Woman clone survives...

Here's a bonus pic. This is "Champ," the only pipe I own which is actually named. 'Cause he hits like a Champ.

Hello,

This grow journal is moving to a site that is more local to my area. :leaf: if anyone is interested, PM me and I'll send you the link.
