I am going to be growing 2 diff strains, Penis Envy(VERRY POTENT) and John Allen strain. I am going to be growing in wild bird seed(WBS) and verm. Here is a pic of the syringes....

Now I am going to take my wbs and put it in a large container and fill with water and sift out all of the floaters and sunflower seeds will float to the top. Get all of the sfs out before simmering.

Now its ready to simmer, the junk is picked out, and it was rinsed and drained about 10 times......

Now put in a pot of water, cook on MED heat till it comes to a slight boil(CONSTANTLY STIRRING) and when its done, remove from hot burner and let sit for 5min.(helps to absorb more water)

This is what it looks like when its done.....yummie

Now that its sat 5mis, poor into a strainer(fine mesh if you got 1) and rinse well, and lay out on a couple layers of paper towels and spread em out. Within a couple hrs, they should be dry enough to jar up and PC...

more pics in a couple hrs...

I like this brand of seed, because it has a few diff types of large seeds which means more moisture, and nutes to live on. When mushrooms are growing, they contain 90% water! So a 10g fresh mushroom will weigh 1g when dry. Which means the more water your substrate can hold...the better.

Here is the PC I use, its a 16qt Presto Canner...lets just say it gets the job done..lol

The tray at the bottom keeps the jars from gettin too hot and cracking.

I was much happier with the canner I got today, the larger one. It had the tray, and even though it didn't look as fancy, it seemed to work flawlessly. It was also a 15 psi rather then the 10. That looks like a pretty nice canner. It reminds me of my grandmas.

I am using quart size jars, normally I use pint but I have had a few to drink 2nite..so quart it is! Anyway..fill the jars 3/4 full with wbs, and then add 2 tbls of dry verm and shake well(this will absorb any excess moisture that might get in while PC'n...

Now, take your lids and with a hammer and a nail...punch 4 holes that will be used for inoculation points......

Now put the lids on and screw em down, but not real tight...now take pieces of foil about 7in squared and wrap over the jar lids...

Now just put about 3 to 4 in of water in your PC, and load your jars in and PC for 1hr..at 15PSI(This steralizes the wbs) or 90min...for a 10PSI...

When done PC'n...I am going to let sit and cool for about 8hrs...then I will continue from there with the steps.

Seriously I just posted on my journal, and then came over here, and it was like de javu, lmao!! You mentioned that we would prolly be harvesting about the same time, but you are gonna get to inoculate today I imagine, were I'm stuck waiting a few more days STILL. lol lookin good though.

Well I had company, so I got a little delayed..Aslo, these pics arent the greatest because of the light in my bathroom...First off, I sprayed down everything in the BR with oust multi surface sanatizer...then I spray the air with Oust air sanatizer and close the door and wait 10 min before entering. Next, get a pair of gloves on and take the jars out of the PC, and put micro pore tape on as quick as you can...then tighten the lid...and give the jars a good shakin.

Now take your syringe, and shake well and flame steralize the needle...let cool for about 10 sec..and hold the jars at a 45 degree angle with the needle pointing towards the glass..and inject about 1/2 a cc to each iinoc site...then put another piece of tape over the hole..and put in the incubator..

Hola, nice pics man, great detail on the injection. If you hadn't said towards the glass, I would have shot them into the WBS.

Wow, really great thread. I still have yet to grow my own shrooms, but I will be in the (hopefully) near future. I will definitally be subscribing to this. Where did you get those spores from?

Yo Kush what do you think of this site, and what they have. There was a couple things that caught me attention. One being the size of their syringes, and another being what they call the "new moon" syringes. Sounds rather interesting. http://www.earthstongue.com/site/388422/page/56762

I got my jars taped and in the fridge, hopefully when I get home from work tomorrow, there will be a package for me with my syringes in it, lol!

Yeah....the ones you can freeze sound interesting to me! The syringes are expensive though...its much better to make them yourself if you have the prints! A little later I am going to do a post on how to make a spore syringe...from start to finish...you will have to check it out! Just look for (Kushcrossers "How to make a spore syringe!") in a couple hrs.

I agree the prices were a bit high, but their syringes are also a 20cc syringe, which I think makes up for some of the price. Especially if they are freezable, or the new moon, for the same price. I agree that making your own would definitely be best. Once you get that other thread up post a link in here.

Also when I checked my incubator today, it was stable after all night at 80 degrees, so I turned it up just a bit. I've been thinking about the air pump more, I noticed that the water is definitely cooler along the edges.
