Wow I've been away for too long. Looks amazing K.C., what a harvest you'll have. The density is really nice. Hope everything is peachy in your neck of the woods. Peace out.

Always like to post goodies for you guys when I get them or they come in ... got some nice stuff yesterday and today ...

IMG_0112.jpg
... all the gear ... 8-bag Bubble Bags w/ pressing screen (will post micron sizes as we go into the hash steps), XL vacuum, UV proof stash container, and some new Fiskies !!

** Edit - And in the top right corner ... some packages about to be sent out ... **

IMG_0111.jpg
... The high of the goodies for me :D ...

Tomorrow is supposed to be the last day for the Cataracts, but I`m giving them 2 additional days as Jill is ideally a 60 day finisher. The BuKu will come down on Day 51, breeder suggests 49-52 days (we could`ve gone longer ... but in consideration of time ... ).

I`ll be active this week doing run-downs for those of you who can`t be bothered to wade through 30+ pages previous, haha. Everything got the last (second) 0ppm water flush today, all but Leader who got a massive one yesterday. Everything is bulking and showing deficiencies of some sort now, but everything is covered in resin ... going to make for some nice hash as ALL the trimmings will be used from this run. Hoping for about 200g frozen trim to work with :bigjoint:. As always, thanks for stepping into my garden, see you guys soon. Keep it green,

I got a box of goodies the other day, a big box of additives for my super soil! The rest I can pick up at my local nursery. I plan on mixing it up in the next week or so, then let it cook for a month. It should be done when im ready to flower my next run. Im excited for this one! Congrats on your new toys. ATB

Sounds like you`re set Steelie, your plants will love you ... and that SS !! I`m almost more anxious to see my root balls than the nugs after pruning, haha, soil is awesome . ATB mate

Awesome mate. A nice pair of fiskars is a trimmers best friend. Looking forward to the harvest and then hash!
Couldn`t have said it better mate :D. I`ll be posting a run-down of the grow here shortly, inspired by your thread. Hope you`re well mate, the bird flies out tomorrow ;)

Thanks psilo, I am pretty OCD when it comes to canopy, want everything to get an equal share. I sacrificed yield by not up-potting Jill into a larger container ... but I knew she`d be towering over the others even more so than now, haha. Your BuKu run looked great by the way mate, thanks for stopping by!

Wow KC they look great in a vid, all looking very thick and damn tasty too :D
Thanks EC, good to see ya back! The flushing is done as of yesterday (second flush through), now they sit until Saturday night. I yank the lights out of there tonight right around lights-off time, and we`ll watch them struggle to pump the last bits they got out :D. Until next weekend we`re gonna have some non-stop action for ya. ATB

Thanks for stopping in guys, will be posting a continuous run-down of thus far in a couple minutes. Will also take some pictures for you guys for Day 56 (CK + Jill) and 49 (BuKu). Keep it green all, peace

Mission:

- Usually I don`t journal my grows, but this strain seemed like it deserved a bit more attention to me than it was getting. Heard a lot of issues around yield and yielding well, so I picked a few up, and thought I`d try to figure out the best way to Mainline a strain that does NOT show single cola dominance ... we went 3 different ways ...

IMG-20130408-00139.jpg IMG-20130421-00274.jpg IMG-20130428-00334.jpg IMG-20130508-00450.jpg
... the 8-headed method ... tried and true ...

IMG-20130421-00261.jpg IMG-20130421-00262.jpg IMG-20130508-00462.jpg
... 4-headed method ... no shoots of any kind, just main stem budding ...

IMG-20130421-00282.jpg IMG-20130424-00311.jpg IMG-20130503-00404.jpg IMG-20130508-00468.jpg
... and finally the 4-headed method, with a twist, letting the under shoots have a shot at becoming heads off a hub point ...

*** Still more, thanks for your patience !! ***

What I found from this little experiment (putting aside pheno variations at this time), is that the straight 8-headed Leader performed very well with all the stress and training, has resulted in nice solid buds from top to bottom of each stalk. However, I feel I could`ve maximized more on top weight by further pruning what I thought was already sufficient down low...

On the flip side, the 4-headed Mrs. O with no other shoots allowed to form other than off the main, exploded with growth, most notably in the section where her head fell off with some cropping ...
IMG_0037.jpg

But there`s a reason I left the experimental Mohican until last ... I feel she far outperformed the others ... despite the injuries to her main trunk when we split it. Had I been able to spread the branching out more evenly we could`ve seen more uniformity of her heads, instead of the hedge as I`ve been referring to her as. Letting the Kush branching do it`s thing after 4 heads is probably the best way to Mainline a multi-dominant flower type strain like the Kushes, Skunks, Cheese, etc.

... We`ll be able to tell for sure come weigh time, but the main points to take are:

1) I had a 50-60 day veg ... if you`re intending on doing the same ... up-pot to something around 7G
2) Keep control of your undergrowth ... it really does noticeably slow your top production
3) Give adequate time between toppings and trainings, keep things tight and strong to avoid breakage
4) Keep those ties on!! These strains love to pull and given the chance will form what I refer to as the hedge-effect that Mohican has

Most importantly, Mainling is fun with great growth rates, but make sure to keep some track of your topping, training schedule. Staying up on your pruning ensures your weight is going where it needs to ... up top

And with a close to the run-down (pictures aside, the amount of pictures on this thread is just not possible to go through to timeline for you guys, haha), I give you todays update. Supposed to be the last day according to breeder but we`re pushing them a tad ... Mrs. O is definitely ready to come out ... Wanting to squeeze everything out of Leader, Jill, and Mohican though.

Thanks for being patient guys and sticking with the grow. Glad to see some mainliners out there now and a special shout out goes to my Kush Heads everywhere. Here`s the candy before the lights go out on this grow ...

Awesome KC. I really do appreciate you taking the time to make the grow journal. I've honestly learned so much from watching you grow and I am sure others have definitely benefited as well. I can't wait to see how they look after the chopping block :)
