Kludge - Grow 003 - Bag Seed: Topping and Pruning

This one will be harvested this weekend.

wow, nice fat buds. hopefully my next grow will look something like ur plants. ya know with the buds all the way up the stem. my cfl grow only got me popcorn bud sites.

what lights are those u are using?

I'm using 2 of the 400W HPS's from High Tech Garden Supply. I think most of the US has gotten their lights from them. Great price and fast shipping, can't beat it.

The buds are even bigger this morning. They have grown like mad over the last few days. I almost hate to cut her down but I'm out of weed. I've actually already snaked about 8g (dry) off of this plant over the last week and it is some really good shit for cheap ass bag weed grown by a newbie. It's almost as good as mids but not quite.

So it won't survive much longer but I'll probably just cut two of the limbs and let the other three live another week; try to get out as much of it as possible.

Yeah, 600's are probably the best bet for us small growers, the 400's were just so cheap I couldn't pass them up. I started with those figuring I'd move them to my veg room and replace them with 600's in a few weeks.

Then I can grow plants bigger than 2 1/2 feet and have good bud all over the plant. I'll still only grow 4 or 6 at a time but more light means more bud so I NEED to upgrade to 600's.

What I want to do is build up a stock of some really good strains and have a few ounces of each curing over a long time. Then I can start smoking from my stash that's been curing for 6 months and just replenish it via my grow.

good idea. id love to do that. i dont have the space to do so.

id love to have a harvest of my own, my own stash. then harvest for selling purposes. too bad.

least ill be able to make some decent bud. from cfls to a 600w will do me nicely

I will NEVER sell weed. Mine is all for my own consumption. I am going to GIVE some to a select few friends but I made them buy some good seeds so it's an equitable exchange. Or as the scientologists say; you maintain good "flow."

i hardly smoke any more. im just trying to keep my head above water so to speak.

Yep, tomorrow morning. One of my best friends is out of weed so I promised him I'd give him one of the colas. I'm only going to chop two of the colas though. I figure one will probably last me a week so that gives the other three another week to grow.

I'm really surprised at how strong it is, I did a few hits of it this morning and I got pretty high. This is NOT a wake-n-bake type of weed though. Way too groggy a high. But good none the less.

If I can grow weed this good from bag seeds I can't wait to taste my White Widow, Bubblegum, and Mazar/Afghans

dont u wanna dry it out before giving it ur friend? its gonna be all sticky and not smoke/taste very good for him.

with those colas id say a good few days, a week, maybe even more. depends on the environment

Oh no, we're both vaporizer users so we quick dry it using the steam dry method or the oven dry method. I'll let the other three dry properly.

Kludge, Nice buds. I like that idea about the seed trading. You are a good friend indeed.

Here's what it looked like 5 mins ago. In the last picture you can see where I've cleaned the little buds off the back cola... bitch needed to be smoked and I was just the man to do it.

Looks great! Kludge, do you have any links to LST / FIM technique you use that have pictures of what the plant looks like when you do the initial cut or pinch? I can't find any good guides, then again I'm usually stoned when I go looking for them.

Nah, I'm just learning myself. I was fucking up more than I was getting right when I was doing this plant but I am getting better.

I only cut two branches, it appears that the new growth needs some time to THC'ize so I want to give it that time.

I can't give an honest report till I properly dry and cure it.

From what I did smoke though it's OK, but I think I shocked the plant into more bud growth thus decreasing the amount of THC till the new buds have a chance to start producing THC.

yeah, the plant will have had its growth slowed down by that. i did it on my 1st grow.

I didn't slow down growth, in fact just the opposite. I extended the flowering period by causing it to grow new bud pods and the bloom enhancer I used of course caused the existing buds to grow too. It's noticeable growth but it's not THAT MUCH so I've learned the valuable lesson not to give your plant bloom enhancer on its last fertilizer feeding, even if that was supposed to be 14 days till its harvest. This fucker's got at least another 2 weeks in it now. I'm going by trichomes. The trichs were going amber, I boosted it, now there are no amber trichs.

im sure u know u can harvest when they are either cloudy or amber?
