Quinoa:

I have one more plot to sow of Quinoa, but doing everything alone and no machinery is tiring and time consuming, hoping to manage to do it before the week ends Everything gets foliar with compost tea weekly and water as needed. Let me tell you that the black plastic sheeting has saved me soooo much water its not even funny.
Hope to catch the interest in some of you.

Found 2 types of mites, 1 type of flea and ants on all my green beans pretty much, had to put some poison, lets hope they go away... Could be the higher heat these past few days

Pretty sure its a type of fat hen?! Though not sure at all lol. I only have i think about 4 or 5 different types of weeds in my wee farm. Its cool to see how they propagate.

Been kinda cloudyish and rained a tiny bit last night so tomorrow probably will be spraying some copper sulphate and perhaps chuck some sulphur the day after to be sure. High humidity area with loads of fucked up mildew and other fungi. Will take pics tomorrow if its a bit sunnier. Shit is growing like crazy! The breen beans needed an extra rod for support due to pure biomass increase:fire:
Will problly brew a compost tea tomorrow too for foliar in a couple days. Tomato plants need support too, Delaying it cause i dont have a decent knife to chop the wild canes from last year. Lettuces seem to be growing a bit slow aty least the ones that got attacked by the birds. Also a neighbour gave me shit loads of his left over fava plants for my compost pile and my chicken seem to like to eat it too so win win.
Thanks to all for popping in.

Hope you guys are enjoying. Id really appreciate a little support/motivation booster with the quinoa since i have no clue if they will grow or even have sprouted or if birds took the seeds and whats sprouting is weeds, i dunno... I reallyt hoipe it goes well...

Thanks for popping in

wow how cute!
Thanks for popping in sunni! Cross your fingers with me for the Quinoa please!
I decided not to dedicate another plot same size to quinoa as its the first time doing it and dont want to risk not utilisiong my space efficiently. Hence shall dedicate that other half solely to black and red beans cause those keep me fed all year and theyre tasty as fuck, especially when foliar weekly with molasses humic and fulvic acids.

So today I thought id ignore the clouds and sulphate the farm. Half way through sulphatating it starts raining like gods angry. I love foliar feeding but i trully hate sulphatating. Guess ill hafto do it again...

A few lettuces have been sentenced already to the chicken and the grape vine is flowering like an indica.
Theres a few bean pods on the green beans and everything else is flowering heavy. Will foliar next time with phosphorus plus the usual goodies.

Thanks for popping in

Hey Klite I had my first Quinoa (sp) today and gotta say it was sorta tasteless mb I can look up some recipes and see how to make it taste better. How do u cook it? I liked the texture and all but it reminded me of roe.

its 1 cup quinoa to 2 cups liquid . i suggest using veggie broth
http://www.thekitchn.com/recipe-black-bean-and-heirloom-153756 is a good recipe ...you need to add it to something you can add it to stews, chillis, cold salads, warm salads
it goes well with olives, capers ,tomatos, beans , asparagus, goat cheese,
you can also use it for breakfast like an oatmeal with berries

Hey Dannyboy

Im fucking fed up with the quinoa. dont think it sprouted even. All the work i had and now im really thinking about planting something else and scraping the crop. Sad as fuck. Very demotivated too
But what sunni said is pretty on it. Most of what i eat is like stewy kinda meals or things with sauce. So Quinoa is like a rice substitute i do cook it with home made stock for more taste.

Thanks for popping in!

Ive started eating from the farm already, so have my chickens. Loads of lettuces are ready plus coriander too. Letting it flower for seeds to use as spice and next crop. A neighbour is growing cumin too?! Kinda mint i want in on that. Theyre the two spices i use most.
I just had for lunch a zucchini omelete with my very first ripe zucchini and my chickens eggs. Happy as hell.
Quinoa isnt doing great and i think im gonna plant beans over them and forget about the quinoa situation.
It looks like in very little time i can pretty much be self sufficient vegetable wise from my farm.
Will take pics later today! also made a new plastic sheet row for more lettuces for the chicken. How i spoil them lol
