King's Operation Midnight Landing

Good things happening this past weekend. I got a much needed exhaust vent going out of the room. It was getting far too humid for my liking, and the bud's liking.

Everything is looking good, I'll actually post bud shots in a little bit, but as for now I already have some shots of the vent work and vegging girls uploaded so I'm just going to put those up now.

Kens GDP is loving it. This is gonna be a great mother.

New connection - I got a splitter and spliced it with the oven exhaust.

I'm happy with the way it turned out, definitely had an immediate effect taking humidity out of the room.

That's it for now, I'll post some budding shots later, maybe later tonight, maybe not. We'll see.

Flower pictures. Although I must say I'm not very happy with the quality of the shots overall - not good lighting/bad focus and I didn't realize it at the time....I may or may not have been drinking when taking these pics... :)

I put up my 400 watter HPS today to replace the LED I had in there. However I must say that I'm partial to the idea that the LED really helps load on the trichs, in which case I'll most likely add them as supplemental lighting another day.
Reservoir pH's were high - in the low 7's - I added water and lowered pH down to 5.8 for both. They're looking good - in my opinion they look pretty damn good for 2 weeks worth of flowering. I haven't been on top of their nutrients too much, and I think they look a little too pale (what do you think?) and could use some more Nitrogen. Other than that they seem to be great.

Any suggestions?

Also, note that I didn't turn on the 400 watt light until I was pretty much finished, and that's the first picture. The other pics are of when I was in the process of switching out the LED with the HPS, so there is a bit of darkness above the large Black Pearl plant.

Did you purposely use LED for the first 2 weeks to try to minimize the stretch or were they something you just got around to doing?

I think they look just fine.

Kinda for both of those reasons, but I'd lean more toward the "just got around to it". Mainly, for the first reason, not particularly to keep them from stretching, but just to see how the temps held up with the 1000 watt in there. I found it was too hot to throw another HPS in there, so I left the LED in until I could hook up sufficient ventilation and control the temps. Now we're rollin. And, like I said, I'll most likely get one of the LED's in there sometime if it continues to look like they aren't as frosty as I'd like them to be.
Comparing it to my first grow journal, https://www.rollitup.org/grow-journals/345308-600watt-led-hydro-gro-op-3.html (scroll down a bit to Day 23 Flower pics)...if they don't look at least that frosty by day 23 this round, then I'll put the LED in there.

Made some changes earlier today.

I replaced one of the cfls with an LED over the veg table. I think it will help them grow faster than just being under the cfls alone...and it means that pinkish hue (that caused someone to dub it as 'the Space Station' in my last journal) is back, so get used to it. It's strange on the eyes...they adjust to it eventually, and anything under regular light has a greenish glow about it.

I also screwed the tarp into the ceiling in order to keep a better light barrier, and I screwed the tarp in to the flowering wooden frame as well to keep the light out, as I have seen some light leakage - so I took care of any light leaks, but it makes getting into and out of the area a bit harder - which isn't a big deal.

Fed the soil girls, replaced the water under the veg tray, and simply added water and more nutrient mix to the remaining water.

I'll be getting good bud shots sometime this week. They're doing great, though I might throw the other LED back in there along with the HPS just to add that glaze of trichs that I've seen with those LEDs...

(quick)PICTURE TIME

Vegging girls under their new light - They should grow at a faster rate under that rather than the cfls. Also note that there is an incredibly wilted plant front and center. That was a lower arm of the big black pearl plant that broke off so I just tried to get roots growing out of that...it didn't work well, but I didn't put in much effort for it either.

Weird angled shot, from the angle you typically don't see. I'm showing the tarp in this picture basically.

Expect bud shots this week
+rep is welcomed.
Peace

Sorry, not high quality, but good for now. I was away and the other dude was looking after the garden and, well, three of the plants are dying for an unknown reason, see pics.

not enough time for a writeup so thats all for now.

Once again here are just a couple really quick shots not of the quality that I'm looking for but whatever - things aren't working out with me bringing my cam when I need to.
I changed the reservoirs today and took cuttings of one of the kensGDP mother plants that wasn't looking so hot.

I have no idea what happened to the three gdp's, the ones that got all crispy, maybe problems with their roots or something? They are starting to grow back green foliage and whatnot, but it's as if the three (which weren't all on the same hydro lines) hadn't gotten watered for a day or two but now they're coming back to good health, as far as it seemed a few days ago.

Hard to see with the yellow intensity of the HPS, which is why I need to bring MY camera, with a good flash and such, to see the trich production at it's juiciest...but this isn't too bad - you can still see how sticky that KGDP is! The Sweet Tooth is..lacking in the thc production that I see on these gdp. It's almost inevitable that I'm gonna put the other LED back over the flowers

We manicured all the dead leaves off which make the crappy ones a bit less harsh on the eyes, but still...damn.

I don't see the greatest root production with my plants, I'm not sure if there's something I'm missing, or if maybe my pH meter is acting up and I've been giving them bad pH'd water? I don't know, I recalibrate it almost every week, and it's usually off by a bit...
But then there would be problems with the other plants too if it was a universal pH problem...which there isn't the girls look great as far as I'm concerned. So the problem with the three remains a question.

Today (the 29th) was actually the mark of the first full month done with flowering - day 31. Cus I started them on the 29th of last month...yea

They're already freaking dense and are gonna do nothing but fatten up and get sticky and stanky the next 30 days.:eyesmoke:

Thanks mang

I bought a high-powered in-line fan for my exhaust. The other fan isn't that strong, so I put it as an air intake vent into the tent, and put the new one at the top of the tent. It's a beast, which is good, cus we're finding it's getting too hot in the tent during the lighting hours, so this should ultimately solve our problem (without having to put an AC in there)

2.28" of static pressure is a shit-ton in my opinion, so this will do the trick.

Air intake

Cuttings I took yesterday are all doing great

Vegging girls looking better and better every day.

beautiful plants bro

that fan looks bad ass. how much did u pay for it. i got a deal on some 750cfm for 79 i'll shoot u a link if interested.

what are the constant temps in your room?

Good things happening earlier today. I finally got some pretty bud shots, so you guys should be happy. We also did some work in the room and put up a shelf kinda to put a fan on over the buds. It's working beautifully.

The girls and buds are looking scrumptious, see for yourself and lemme know what you think for day 33/56(ish)

Note the new addition of the fan on the shelf

Too many pics? Haha, I'm all about the danky nug shots bongsmilie

Enjoy!

Thanks mang, thats a good ass deal for 79! I paid 150 for this one. I know it's too much, but it was at a hydro shop and I wasn't finding anything online. and the temps inside the tent were getting dangerously high....but yeah if you have a link to a good one it'd be a good reference for me and anyone else I'm sure.
My constant temps aren't very consistent, haha, but what I've found is that it rests at about 85-86 when all 1400watts of hps are on them, which is kinda too high for my liking, but it works. When I didn't have the fan in there it would get as hot as 92! which is ALL bad, therefore I found it worth paying the 150 for the fan at the convenience of having it right away.
When the lights are off it's typically 73-75...inside the tent. I don't know what it is outside, like where the vegging girls are - considerably cooler I'm sure - in the 70's even when the lights are on.

Yeah but in hydro room temps aren't as important as Rez temps so i'm sure your in there and the relevant temp to humidity contrast can be a bit more varied and felxible as to when the stomata opens . seems like your doing good and hitting shit on all 4's. I'm almost jealous lol I was telling a friend about ur garden when explaining how i wanted to make the switch soon. are you venting the hood?

Yeah this is true. Actually I'm not venting the hood at the moment cus I'm using all the venting and inline fan that I have already, although if what we did last night didn't help the temps then venting the fan would have been (or will be, things can change) my next option.

And thanks for the compliment man, I appreciate it. I'm certainly doing everything I can to make Operation Midnight Landing a success :)

I'll write shit along the way. get ready for a ride...

.....actually dont.

yeah...

The LED went back over the Black Pearl, cus I like the way the LEDs pack on healthy crystals - healthier than I've seen from my 1k hps

Sorry, no good quality close ups this time...

Cuttings, the ones I took of the gdp are the ones on the left that aren't looking so hot for reasons that I'll not go into. And the healthier ones on the right are the Black Pearl's that I took 2 days ago.

Finally, we decided to construct our own cloner so we wouldn't have such issues as them perhaps not getting water for a day, or even in case of getting too much water.

Now, this isn't going to be the actual reservoir we're going to use for it...it's got handle holes that aren't really gonna fly, and it's really flimsy. But it is a handy temporary res.
We've just put a simple aeroponic setup together using pvc, jet sprinkler head thingys, and a pump...essentially....there were some complications when it came to the pvc fitting to the pump connector, but after another trip to the hardware store we found two pieces that made it run like clockwork.

Here's to future cloning success bongsmilie

Hey Pabs, I haven't been on the forum lately, and I think it's pretty much only you and I on this thread, with the occasional homie like Homebrewer and Flip the Script. Anyway, a lot has been going on and I've been really busy, hence not updating on here. A few weeks back I found we had a spider mite infestation so I chopped all the hydro girls, leaving the soil ones to further develop (it's not impossible to fight an infestation when there are only two plants to infest).
I've since taken apart the frame that was there, completely vacuumed and then mopped with pine-sol. Today we rebuilt the frame, except this time I kicked out the sides a few feet, AND I bought plywood to actually enclose the box, rather than just plastic tarp. The dimensions are 6ft wide, 10ft long and 7.5ft high. It's much more suitable for growing herb. I'll possibly post some pics when it's all done, but (I'm not gonna lie) I might not.
I also got 6 inch diameter pvc pipe, lots of it, to use as an aeroponic grow device. Rather than have a flood and drain setup I'll have sprayers connected to a 1/2 in pvc pipe that will run inside of the 6inch pvc that will have holes drilled out holding net pots. again, if I post pics, which I guess I eventually will, you'll see what I'm describing.

Thats where I'm at now.
Be good
