Sometimes having a fence out in the middle of the woods could trigger a random person to look harder... Most of us don't have that issue, but for those of you that do...

There is something called "Milorganite"<---LINK ] That's a link it costs about $15 at most Lowe's.

Here is all you need to know about it.
1) It is composted human waste.
2) Just spread it around in a small mound as a perimeter defense.
3) When it rains it's usually going to be ok, but if it pours touch up your defenses. (It works off of scent.)
4) Every couple of weeks go out and spread more around.

I use this for my vegetable garden at my house. No fence, no barb-wire, no electric fence. I sit on my couch and watch deer walk up my driveway, they will stop for a minute, smell around, then turn around and walk away.

Works every time.

yup, I'm all for keeping it local and pooping around my plants with my own blend, thank you bongsmilie. Seriously, pee around them. Barber shop is always good for some extra human hair to leave around. Put it in cheese cloth bags so it doesn't blow away. Cut up Bars of zest or irish spring soap...Deers hate the smell of the fats they use to make it as well as the detergent scent. I think bow and arrow counts as organic too.

I'm sure all that works too. I just know that $15 a month is practically free as well, considering what it provides.

I know if you do try the urine approach you have to do that just about everyday. I don't know about pooping... I'd imagine it doesn't last at least two weeks like the Milorganite.
I've heard about the human hair, but call me paranoid but I don't like the idea of asking some random business owner for their customer's hair.

I'm sure there are a 1000 different ways. I'm just throwing one more out there. It works very, very well.
To each his own.
Welcome to America :peace:

I had some massive deer problems living in the south, and all of those methods work to some degree or another. Though during a nasty drought a couple years ago, with there food sources scarce, nothing stopped the deer from destroying my gardens--except those behind physical fences. They were even chewing on the edges of toxic plants previously untouched. I guess what I'm saying is that if you experience a drought, be extra careful with pesky deer-- hunger is a powerful motive. Cheers!

Completely agree with that. Like when you see a plant that say deer resistant or deer repellent... BS!!! A deer is going to eat what every a deer wants to eat. But I'm very serious about this Milorganite. I've had droughts and all that fun stuff and have never had one single issue, and my house is literally in the middle of the woods. My closest neighbor is a little over 2 miles away.

I'm just saying, if you're having this issue and can't put up a fence. From my experiences Milorganite is KING!!!

You can spray with need oil makes the plant bitter and they won't eat it but got to do it every 7 to 10 days.

I just use Irish Spring for men regular, 6 boxes for 2$. use an object to put small holes in each corner of the box, I use a star screwdricer thats about 1/4" and just drop a box about 3 feet from the plant. Lasts till sept. been doing it for 34 years and never lost a plant to dear, rabbits or vegens.

Peace

I think you mean "neem oil". But yeah down fall to that is you have to do it every week. I've heard of the soap before. Never tried it because this composted human poop works so well.

I'd have to say it is between the Irish Spring soap and Milorganite.

you could just shit/urinate/leave some of your hair at the sight. what i do and noooo problems. and free
This is a funny post. Good job. I would just use a shot gun. 100% organic as you are going to leave the animal bones/flesh to decompose into the ground. Just need to try and collect the pellets later. If you can be bothered.

LOL... That's funny, I have people all the time asking me to hunt on my property. I tell them "No, I don't believe in killing the deer." But in actuality I feed the hell out of these deer and only take one a year. It is always enough for me and my family that is one state away.

It's kinda funny really. I haven't bought real food at a grocery store in many years. The only thing I ever get is freeze pops.

Being self-sufficient is very liberating. I only leave to go get my mail, and I only see who I want to see.

ColaFarmer you've sold me, I'm thinking about picking up some Milorganite. I love watching the deer, but I go all Hulk when my plants have been prematurely pruned. Thanks again. Cheers.

Sure, you're going to sit in the woods from veg to harvest and shoot every single deer that comes by.. :D
