I have a k-9 cop living in my neighborhood.

Should i take any extra precautions? Are all k-9s trained for narcotics?

nah, not all of em are trained. they will still be able to smell it if they are close but they wont do any of the things that the police train them to do when they pick up the smell.

if its not a police dog then u should be fine

it is a police dog. one of the police officers who drives around with K-9 on their back glass. I just wasnt sure if maybe it was more to retrieve runners or if there is a way to be sure if he is trained narco dog(bsides him find my stash/grow ;)

any other thoughts? he does take the dog out for walks in the neighbor hood, etc...

would you feel safe growing with a possibly trained k-9 walking down the front of your house now and then?

Those dogs have an insane ball drives they work 24/7 not just when told. If the dog can get within 25 yards of the grow room I wouldn't risk it personally but Im careful and never been caught

haha- icepick- that is funny. stash some dosier in my neighbors yard---- lol...

i do feel safe for now- but this is my first grow. And I guess the questions i am asking is SHOULD i feel safe? It is certainly a concern. But is this something that can be solved with a homemade or professional carbon filter(as nemad suggested)?

I certainly dont want to have my grow interrupted... but- I also dont want to be too Alarmist and throuw all my work away if there is a way to control the issue effectively.

damn your neighborhood just changed. Hot now
I'd be shook.. but you cant worry right? It's not outside so it's gonna be rare for that dog to just run up ya steps n start barkin n shit. I would get some glade plug in n shit tho just to be safe.

exactly-- i CANT WORRY. However i do need to do what ever possible to prevent an issue. Right now i have a homemade carbon filter on my 1000W HPS venting the heat and semi filtered air out my window.

and have around 40+ plants that i want to put into flower. SO I would like to do whatever neccesarry prior/ immediately entering the flowering cycle.

Does anyone see options here? would addiing a pro Carbon filter help?

What about venting into my attic? any feedback helpful. THanks!

attic u just like me.
yea u can add another one if that first one isnt working great for u.
venting for it are you in a grow box/closet or just flat out in the attic?
u can try to get a great reg smell around the house like with plugins, ona block, or ozium spray all these are great supplements to your Carbon Filter.
but i wouldnt truly worry too much as long as it's not stinky in the rest of your house then its not so bad.
Have you ever seen that dog being walked?

yes- dog has walked by-- my grow room 8x10x14 is approximately 20ft from the raod he'd walk by on.

I think the venting i have now is OK. And the smell is not major. But as i mentioned- i have not flowered yet. SO things could change drastically.? Would venting carbon filtered air to the attic vs out a window have a dramatic change or any?

That dog will only be able to hit on it within close proximity. Dont worry about it, as long as it is in the house you are good. If you were dealing out of the house that is something else. He nor the dog will care...

my cousin is a cop i think his dog is trained for bombs but he never takes it on walks but while i was planting my plant i think i heard him

FYI:

I am 99% sure that the drug dog will not alert on the smell of marijuana (or any other drug) unless specifically instructed to search for drugs by his handler. If anything, it is the guy himself that would detect it as I highly doubt he'd be walking his pooch around the neighborhood in 'seek' mode.

Still, there is that 1% chance I could be wrong. I'd do some research to verify, but you should be good. And yes, smell will change drastically when you start flowering so work on that filter setup now :)

Edit: Holy crap, 40 plants? I would suggest some powerful inline fans and then venting the exhaust out through the attic. Your entire house will reek if you don't take care of the odor properly and like I said, I think it is the guy you need to worry about more than the dog.

im gunna have to disagree... dude, first off, dont vent outside.. 2nd, dogs sense of smell is sooo insanely more powerful than ours, gotta watch animal planet.. there is no way that the dog wont smell it once you go into flowering, unless you do some serious filtering of your air.. dont be stupid. and there is a very good chance of it being a drug dog.. its like being thrown into a shark tank, not all sharks eat people, but still not a place you want to be. move it to the back of your house and filter it.. trust me, you dont want to have 3 yrs to think about where you went wrong!

Of course the dog is going to smell it. The point is that he won't actually do anything unless his handler has specifically instructed him to seek out drugs. Drug dogs, bomb dogs, dogs trained to seek out whatever are not constantly seeking out whatever they are trained to seek.
