Justifying Corporate Salaries in America

As the division between the elite 1% wealthiest and the other 99% continue to grow at its fastest rates, much of Americas citizenry labor away on minimum or close to minimum wages

Half of ALL Americans made LESS THAN $50,000 last year. Yet, five of the 10 largest private employers in the US saw salary increases to its Executives. Largest of them being Wal-Mart. Not just the largest private employer but they also rewarded themselves with the largest raise to its Executives, all while just barely managing to get all minimum wage employee's up to $10 an hr.

One can't help but realize, and feel that it is being left to multi-BILLION dollar corporations to say they can't afford to provide better wages. Let's take a closer look at Wal-Mart for example.

As of 2016:
Wal-mart employee's 1.5M Americans (2.2 M Worldwide)
2016 Revenues : 482.1 BILLION
2016 Operating Cost : 7.2 Billion
2016 Dividends : 1.6 Billion
2016 Net CASH PROFIT ( After taxes) : STILL IN THE BILLIONS....Hundreds of BILLIONS

Yet, the average salary for American Walmart employee's......roughly 18,000

So, how does any corporation
that makes MILLIONS, and even BILLIONS, of dollars in PROFIT, justify keeping it all, and not distributing wealth? Did the 1.5M Americans literally not facilitate your wealth...for you Walton Family?? Or any other Corporate scum.

Imagine if you can, that one day, 1.5 Million American Wal-Mart employee's came marching to the very front door, or Mr. Walton's Mansion. I can only imagine , and only then, would he be inclined to not be a slave owner painted as a "CEO" . They hind behind these titles. Its accountability. They need to be held to the same degree as every other human.

This is legal, "corporate" slavery. Instead of chasing cotton for some rich fuck, we chase worthless dollars. If we Americans started working like we get paid, ....a little bit each week....perhaps things would change, quickly.

They say be the change you wish to see :)

I'd say, 'don't hate the playa, hate the game'- except in this case the playas be bribing the umpires to rig the game in their favor- and have been for so long that most people now in the workforce have never known it otherwise...

The place to start is workplace regulation.

The place to start changing THAT is Citizens United.

America CAN be the greatest country in the world again, it just needs to take care of everyone. The rich can take care of themselves, it's the lower classes that need a better shake than they're getting.

Republicans won't do it and establishment Democrats are bought and paid for by the very same interests, so they won't either.

It's time for a Progressive Movement in America, one that will hold the rest of the political system accountable.

Bullshit.

Everytime CU was discussed all Democrats voted against it, ALL of them.

You're a parrot, noone listens to your braindead sqwaking because you can't accept simple facts.

Salaries agreed upon between two parties aren't the problem.

The existence of a Corporation itself, is the problem.

I appreciate the constructive responses thus far. Heil your picture is a really powerful image and provokes a lot of thought.

I respectfully request that those going off topic and starting a pissing match of sorts please refrain. I know it may be wishful thinking, but I would like to see a thread on RIU stay constructive and not get into a chest thumping match. This is about the corporate filth that 99% of Americans are enslaved to in order to literally survive, or have a respectable quality of life.

In response to the cliche comment of : Don't hate the player, hate the game. This is not a game. This is a matter of life and death for MILLIONS OF AMERICANS. More so, hate is not the answer here. Hate is just going to occupy your mental real estate in a self destructive, non-constructive way. This is a matter of humanity. A matter or Right vs. Wrong. Its really about equality in the world of economics. These filthy rich have an obligation to those who facilitate the plethora of wealth.

Top CEO Salaries in America : Are all captains of Tech Giants. All are toted around for the "charitable" actions.

Giving 1-10's of millions of dollars to charity....when you have billions in wealth....is the equivalent of giving a lollipop. Its a drop in the bucket. Sure to not be noticed or missed in the respective bank accounts. And they get the prestige award of being called a humanitarian or a example of charity and anti-greed. RIGHT.

Bill and Melinda Gates for example :

America Population is : 323.1 Million
Bill Gates Net Worth : 82 BILLION

82 Billion divided amoungst 323.1 Million Americans would literally enrich each and every Americans life by ( roughly) 2.538 Million.

I am sure that would usher in change like nothing else in the history of America....but nah, why do that level of good when you can create bullshit foundations that give chump change away so you can look like such a humanitarian....right. Your a evil user of your fellow man. Nothing more.

I love this thread, and I agree whole heartedly with your premise, but you may want to reconsider the math in this post....

I get a chuckle out of the way Padastikk argues until he's blue in the face and then stops replying once he's thoroughly beaten. Then he resurrects his shit threads with more spam links. Then a few days later starts using the arguments that prevailed against his fallacies as if they were his all along.

If Bernard changed his tune, they would follow.

Oh look; here's Stinkydigit showing up to announce to the world he has no ideas of his own, he's just here to share how far he can stick his thumb up his ass, while trying his best to derail yet another worthy thread.
You just say the same shit every time.

We're trying to discuss solutions and you produce simplistic shit like "Let's get rid of CU but Democrats don't want to because they're paid off" which is so easily demonstrably false.

I changed my proxy to France btw, so you'll refer to me as "Monsoir" in further communications, merci, au revoir!

How dumb are you ? Do you even pay attention to things like numbers ? Yes Citizens United is disgusting and should be gone, but Dems were not for it and did try to fight against it. They failed.
Now let us talk about the after math. When it was all said and done the DEMS still raised more than Repukes even when you includ this Citizen United bullshit. Obama was still able raise $784 million in that campaign, while Mr. Romney only $467 million. Obama exceeded Mr. Romney in the fundraising department, and went on to win re-election.
Moving on to Hillary Vs Trump. Hillary raised $867 million for her presidential campaign; Donald Trump raised $453 million. Super-PACs supporting Mrs. Clinton raised $201 million, while those supporting Mr. Trump raised $59 million. Hillary raised more than Trump .
So, looking at the numbers ( which does not lie ) the Democratic candidate was able to raise very close to twice what the Republican candidate raised. If one adds in the amounts given to the Super-PACs, the Democrats actually raised more than twice the amount raised by the Republicans with Citizens United. One election with Obama we kicked ass. The one with Hillary we lost. Both elections the Dems came out on top with funds even after Citizens United. So basically STFU
The Dems losing the last election was nothing about Citizens United and Yes I'm against that shit..
Now I will go back to just skipping reading your post. You bark the same shit without doing research.

If a Dollar is a Dollar, evidently CU has an advantage. Fear? Greed? low Educational standards?, Pharmaceutical influence? Foreign influence?

Splitting up Democracy started at the top years ago, one little hatchet chop an a time.

I'm against CU, but the evidence says that it can't win an election. If that was the case we would not have Trump and Obama was against it and still won.

I question weather the evidence has/shows a quantitative effect and to which direction.

Just jump to the last 30 seconds.

'Changing "French fries" to "Freedom fries" was arguably this Republican Congress' greatest accomplishment.'

I'd even argue that were here because certain "progressives" have spent the last 16 months shitting on the Democrats and giving the Republicans a suspicious pass.
