i personally think it would die fairly quick. if it was only in sand it would dry out unless if it had constant moisture. thats why sand is in the form that its in. their is little to no moisture. on my last grow i layered the top with sand so the plant could get nutrients much faster, thats the only benefit with sand. so all in all stick with soil.

i would imagine it will do just fine just make sure she doesnt dry out to much and u will be fine .. with a little care weed will grow almost anywhere just fine..

the heat will cook the roots on the sides of the buckets. if u do us buckets dont put drain holes on the bottom of the bucket put them on the side about a inch up that will still give u drainage and hold some water for those hot days. but planting in the ground is a better idea. add some nice soil to ur spot and mulch them to hold in the moisture.

The buckets are a different case then. I think they would grow outstanding because its very hot out and the sun beams on them.. if you can find a good enough spot id go for it.
