yea its just too much especially since uve never grown before.....and i still dont under stand wat a fish take will do for you....you can use parts that go in a fist tank like the air stones and air pumps but a fish tank has no benefit.....i might be wrong but im pretty sure ive never seen a plant on any forum that ive seen come from a fish tank....

Well I want to do 4 plant's. 3 in the fish tank and 1 in soil maybe. Just to see which way I would rather grow.

Well I've read some stuff about growing in a fish tank.

What I can do is cut a Styrofoam board out that fits perfectly in the top of the fish tank that will float on the water and keep the plants suspended above the water. Then I can have an air pump with an air stone pumping oxygen to the roots. And a normal fish tank water filter .

And then have my blue spectrum cfls for vegging and my red spectrum cfls for flowering.

yea but u cant let light get to ur roots so urgoin to have to put duct tape on the outside of the tank to keep the light out...u want need the fish water filter that want do anything for ur plants...u will need to filter the water before u put it in ur dwc system...i would suggest getting an ro system...reverse osmosis....

See I figured it would work and I didn't think I would need the water filter. Yea I know I cant let light hit the roots, or the water because it activates algae production...So I was thinking about like duct taping it and then spray painting it black for good measure.

duct tape will work great it doesnt have to be completely covered but just dark........the only problem with the styrofoam is that u want be able to let the plants get big in that cause theres nothing supporting the stem.....

Well I thought about that actually, I read some forums on here where it said some people who grew in a fishtank were saying that they were having Styrofoam floating on top of the water and I knew when the plant got big or started budding it would wobble and tip over. What I'm going to do is cut the Styrofoam so it perfectly stays wedged in the top of the fish tank, so its not floating on the water but is situated above the water where it wont move at all.

I'm pretty sure I have it all figured out. I'm gonna get the fish tank soon.

I need a couple items, so I'm gonna buy an air pump and air stone. Also some cfl's. I plan on buying 6 cfls, 3 in the blue spectrum and 3 in the red spectrum. The 3 blues for my vegging and 3 reds for my flowering.

Well I dont think I can get an RO. Wouldn't a weekly change of pre-filtered water work?

i would by distilled water from the store....thats wat i did my first grow so i didnt have to use my shitty tap water.....3 cfls ill be enough for the first 3 weeks of growth but that want be enough light for the entire grow.....
