Just got pulled over...

Ok so I was on my way from picking up a g of some purps, to my friend's house to pick up my bubbler, when I get pulled over by PD...keep in mind that I have a g of purps in my pocket. He asks why I was tailgating, and I said that it was in no way intentional. He proceeds to ask for my id and insurance, at which time I proceed to get increasingly nervous for no appearent reason :o. He asks why I'm shaking and I politely let him know that I've just been nervous around police since I was a kid, and he kind of shrugged and said ok. He then asks if I have any drugs in the back of my truck and I said no, since there weren't any, of course. He asks if he can search the car and I said yes, so he says wait here, and then goes to his cruiser to run my id and insurance (policy was terminated 4 months ago.) He comes back and asks me to get out so he can search my truck, but in doing so, he asks if I mind if he pats me down, to which I had to say yes. He actually patted me down and squeezed the nugz...nothing. Anyway, another officer shows up by this time, and right before he starts to search, he asks one more time..."Is there anything in here I should know about?" I IMMEDIATELY got up and said actually yes! I had a syringe of mushroom spore solution behind my seat, so I got up, GOT THEM OUT FOR HIM, gave them to him and told them what they were. Needless to say he was astonished that I would tell him the whole story behind the syring, but I'll get into that another time. He tells the other officer to call a K9 unit to sniff the syringe, but the unit is busy in the field. They call it in, and after finding out that spores and spore solutions are not illegal in Texas, they still opt to confiscate it, to which I had no complaints. They're sending it to a lab to verify that the solution isn't actually any hard drugs like heroine, opium, and a few others. They give me my id, insurance card, AND MY EFFIN ROLLER! LOL!, and said, we're gonna let you off with a warning on the tailgating...just be more careful next time! So here's what happened: I go to pick up a g, and after I get it, I leave to get my bubbler but get pulled over, questioned, and searched with the weed in my pocket, and get off with a tailgating warning. Now it's 416 and 4 minutes til blast off...then work at 5. I hope work is half as exciting as the day has been so far.

Never say "you don't mind..." to the question "do you mind if I search..." If they have probable cause to search, they are going to search.

Just Politely Say "I don't consent to any searches Officer". Nobody should ever consent to a search whether they think they are innocent or not.

NEVER I repeat NEVER agree to an illegal search! And that is what that was! Was your license suspended? Did he see drugs? He had no reason to search your vehicle or pat you down! He could not arrest you for tailgateing! You can't be arrested for not having insurance so what was his reason for conducting a search and seizure?

If your avatar is of your HS vice principal, I don't see why you're complaining ;) ;)

No offense but you acted retarded man. You don't have to consent to shit and why would you not just shut the hell up? You are not required to talk to the police. You should read up on your rights and visit NORML's website, educate yourself and shit like this will not happen. Knowing my rights has saved me many times. :peace:

Gary Cooper says otherwise in he "Never get busted" videos. Of course your pot should be well hidden before you put your car in drive.

He says a refusal is a red flag and he would search more thoroughly than someone that says have at it from the get go. Dogs are trained to alert on command. They will search your car if they want to.

Exactly. They'll just find a reason(i.e. make one up) to search, or wait for the dog. If you don't have anything to hide, and youre in no hurry...you might as well tell them to eat a dick, but if you're trying to hide something, the best thing to do is act like you have nothing to hide and hope they don't find it. I've lucked out like this a couple times.(as did the OP)

Here's a little secret: the cops aren't your friends.

They are taught to ask the question "do you mind", and then observe you, and if they see you think about whether or not you should consent to a search, they had already played you for a fool.

Just automatically say "I don't consent to searches". If you're asked to step out of the car, lock it behind you.

If they believe they have probable cause.. then they will search regardless, rather that asking you trick questions. If they have to ask "do you mind.." it's pretty obvious they don't have probable cause (the legal authority) to search you.

wow ive completely ashamed in u
You rolled up a blunt of male leaf trim, AND you think teens are "mad good drivers" -- You should be ashamed of yourself!

You'll come to the realization one day, that regardless of the job that you perform (whether thats growing dope, selling dope, busting dealers, or shooting people in Iraq) you're a human being... and the job CANT stop you from being human, or having empathy.

Here in Los Angeles, most of our cops have been doing a very good job at leaving marijuana users alone. I appreciate this and greatly respect the officers that know the difference between cannabis and dangerous drugs.

Doesn't make me an opponent to cannabis, I just show respect where due. I apply logic, not emotion.

One time me and a friend of mine got pulled over, and in the car we had individual bags of coke, special K, and a bag of weed, and in my pocket I had a couple E pills. We both had open containers, so the cop already had cause to search the vehicle, so my friend does a bold move and tells the officer that he has a pipe with a little bit of weed leftover and proceeds to hand it to the cop. After that, the cop asks me to step out, pats me down right over the pills, gives me a breathilizer, writes me a ticket for open container and let's me go. I could have gotten intent to distribute multiple drugs if the cop had searched the vehicle, instead I just got a ticket...well I got my license suspended because of it, but still. And I think the fact that my friend straight out handed him a pipe before he even asked to search is what made th difference.

Um...yea...for all those people telling me not to let him search me and my car...suck it. They would have called a dog and found it for sure if I would have said no! I just cooperated with them and let them do what they want...I was being submissive with police officers...to save my ass. All I cared about was getting out of there without them calling dogs, ESPECIALLY after he already searched me and found nothing!
