HELLO! im so stoked. stoked i didn't loose a fucking finger building this thing. got nicked up pretty damn bad by the circle cutter, lol! anyways. i did it! and besides the painting part its ready to rock!! i need to paint the top with primer and black spray paint and then im good to go. however. i have the Clonex Root Solution. i have to buy a timer still, but im confused on which one to get. i have seen and use these 20 cycle timers. they have 2 outlets on it. but i only need 1 of them. 20 cycles. that means like every 75 minutes i can run the pump for at least 1 minute. i have had such shitty luck with rockwool cubes and Rapid Rooters on there own i decided to make a cloner. and that is my issue. the dampness they need to be for a perfectly rooted cutting. so which is it? what would be the best cycle for me? is there any concern need to be taken about water temp? if you have time to walk me through this that would be great!!!! and of course, +rep!! thanks!!

i will add directions and material listings along with pics here shortly. for roughly $100, i seen these same systems sell for roughly $300!!!! i will admit i am NOT a DIY grower. i usually get all grow items brand new. just something i do not mind dropping the extra change on. however i was having major issues making cuts root and had some money troubles this last month. otherwise, i probably would have just paid the retail price. after building this (still not seen it in action) it looks about like the same exact thing as them store-bought systems. i can't wait to get it rocking!!!!

I've read cheap timers with the pull tabs work fine at 15 on and 15 off.
The gearbox on them can also be modified for short cycles.
There is a post here with a gearbox mod and a video here for another gearbox mod.

CAP has the ART-DNe and NFT-1e
Sentinel has the DRT-1 and MDT-1
Titan has the Apollo series.

I do 1hr on 15min off with my aerocloner. I just used one of those cheap pull tab timers from the local box store.

THANK YOU !!!!! i have heard of a few aerocloner users having there cycle on 24/7. is that safe? i was thinking of the pull tab ones for sure. i seen the huge analog timers. they look ancient, but ther more expensive. i think those may work. but this was supposed to be a "$100 project" and its turning into a lot more. but im still saving a few hundred. just need to find the proper settings. i suppose i could trial and error it.

any specifics on temps???

and to the people that need pics for this question, your knowledge wouldn't be very helpful. if you need a pic for everything you obviously haven't read enough and gathered enough real knowledge to help me. maybe you can help others, but not me. thanks for trying.

I run my home built aero 24/7 with luke warm water, roots in 1 week, GUARANTEED!

I have Blueberry Gum clones that were taken 5 days ago and this morning I passed through and had a peek and 3 out of the 9 have enough roots to be moved into veg.

regards,

I've done 24/7 without a problem too. I think I got slightly faster roots leting them dry occassionally, plus it reduces rot risks (Didn't have any, just waned to be safe.). I've never worried about temps, but that's because I keep it in a fairly warm area. I know that my buddy throws one of those seedling mats under his cloner to keep it warm. Mid 80's temps are supposed to increase your rooting rate. I also never use my dome, I just foliar spray some water if they need it. Kept my mold problems in check. These things will pretty much work as long as there's water being pumped, although I may just be lucky. I'd say I'm at about 97% success on the last several hundred cutings since I got this though, so it can't be too hard. I also use a touch of flower nutes, and cloning gel in my res., for what it's worth. I average about 7-10 days before it's ready to pot.

OH!!! btw...is your Blueberry Gum one of them freebies you got off Attitude a few months back? i have a fem seed of that strain and am waiting for my cloning skills to get up t0 par then i was going to run that strain. i popped 1 White Widow seed in fem form and that is all i needed. i have pulled a few rooted cuts off her within the last few weeks. may flower here out and keep a cutting as a new mom. i figure the Widow was the test run for the rest of those 1-off fem seeds Attitude has kicked me. i gotta shit ton of them!!

if its aero no timer needed just let it go 24/7, if u can use some clonex gel and ph the water to 5.50-5.80 and throw in an aquarium heater, it works great for me.

Ok ive cloned in an aero cloner for years know and I know the perfect environment. Obviously want to run air stones in the solution to get oxygen, You can run the lights at 18/6 or whatever you prefer, but I run 24/7 as I notice a bit faster root development. DONT heat the water. Once water reaches 80 degrees + it holds half the amount of oxygen than water at 68 degrees. Ive had clones develop weak roots because of hot summer days that make the solution warm.

I have an aerocloner. Boughtit for fifty bucls. 8 site but I double up so 16. Any how the first two days 24/7 after that my timer runs 15 on 30 off. Roots need dry time so they go n search for water. I use reg tap water no clone gel or solution n dY4 I see the bumps, day 6 first roots , by day 14 roots are over a foot long and hella thick. 100% success rate. Change the water once a week. As far as temps I just turn on the cold water n fill the bucket. Its simpler than people make it out to be. Btw I would not wait till day 14 if transplant to dirt cuz its harder to swirl the long roots into the dirt. Easier when roots are inches long.

14 days seems very long my friend. i think ill stick to those other posters methods.
To be fair, he was saying that the roots were 12" long by day 14. To be fair, some cuts also take longer to root. I've heard tales of some starins taking 14 days just to show roots, though that's mostly due to where they take the cuttings I think.

i agree. didnt read the post fully. as soon as a see more then 10 roots breaking out of the rockwool i have transplanted into red Solo cups and usually they take right off. i have been told i should wait for more roots to show them selfs before transplanting, but i have lost cuts after showing roots do to drying up or breaking off. i still really really suck at rooting cuts. and if i do not learn soon i may just have to teach myself to grow seeds. but i hat growing 50 seeds, finding 30 fems and then having like 6-7 different phenos all acting differently. i really do love phenos in general. but im looking for a more uniform grow for the next few rounds. this is only my 4th solo grow and the 1st were i saw 0 nute burn. now i have to lean cuttings and rock a full 4x8 of the same cut.

PSST!! i hope this thread aint dead. so i built my cloner. and finally got to running it. it fucking rocks!!!! so my next concern is transplanting. the roots are long! and there is many of them. some are just starting to take off and some are needing transplanting today. i suppose i take the net off, and carefully figure out a way to transplant them into red Solo cups or something bigger since the tap root is well over 4". i have also noticed that taller cuttings root faster. i have been tempted to take cuttings off the top of my mother plant and see how they go since as up to this point i have only been removing cuttings from the bottom area of the mom. thanks for all the help thus far, everything has worked great!
